Something still isnt right.
I purchased another civic. a 95 hatch.
when purchased it had yellow konis on really heated up springs and the ride was terrible. anything over 65 and it shook hard.
I wound up with some GSR struts and got 96-00 stock springs I put them on and the ride quality improved a whole lot but whenever I hit a bump it wants to put me in the next lane.
My steering wheel jerks hard and the bumps are extremly hard to take. It hurts my ***.
No shaking anymore except a little bit when you hit the brakes hard.
what could it be with the bumps?
I was thinking about getting it aligned. I changed struts springs tires and wheels. so I was thinking an alignment is due.
LMK what you guys think.

if you went with cut springs to stock springs, your alignment is off again.
get it aligned. its required anytime you change ride heights.

im on stock Gsr Rear struts and 96 civic fronts for now. Konis im saving for the racecar. 96-00 stock springs all the way around.
I figured about the alignment but what could be making it hit the bumps so hard?
Steering wheel jerks like a ****.

get it aligned first. it could easily be alignment issues.
the only other thing i can think of is a worn rack or balljoints. see if theres any play in those parts. gotta get under the car and shake everything.

Post up the alignment specs. Esspecially the non-adjustable ones (IE caster & camber). They can give good clues to help hunt down bent suspension components too.

ok well after the alignment the car travels much much smoother down the road.
the bump problem is still there. I hit a bump(anything) and the car feels horrible. jumps and pops and ****.
I feel like im in a deathmobile riding like that.
Could it be the rear GSR struts or what? too stiff?
It rides like ****. I think im going to buy full coilovers with a chamber kit or something.

What condition are the shocks in? Who did you get them from, and did they know the history of the shocks?
Check your bushings and balljoints up front. Do the bushings still look OK (not cracked with the sleeves coming out)? Is there a lot of play in the balljoints or tie-rod ends? have the UCA's been replaced with an aftermarket one?

Rear Gsr shocks were from a h-ter They seemd in pretty good condition.
Front 96-00 civic shocks were from my old hatch(accident) they had maybe 50k on them if that.
Springs all around are from the 96 hatch I had.
UCA's are stock.
All bushing and whatnot look fine. I had a broken right busing in a 92 CX i have so i remember what it looks like.
how can I check the play on ball joints and tie rod ends?
steering is extremly sloppy. They converted it from Power Steering to Manual by looping the hoses. I bought a P/S pump all ready and will be bolting that on when i get the new motor.
It seriously almost feels like the car lifts for a second then slams down extremly Hard.
I can also here the rear strut/springs make noise. They Squeak when i go over a bump or anything.
are gsr struts to stiff for the eg?
Thanks for all the helpful posts keep um coming
