This guy has been parking next to me recently at work, duno who he is... but im pretty sure hes 'stating' something. Because I usually park farther away than most people, and hes been right there each time.

I think this is a showoff/challenge attempt. Granted I would lose now, but give me comptechs supercharger and it might be a little more fair.

BTW cell phone pic so its blurry, and it was dark, and i was walking....... its a SS Cobalt.

 

On the odd occasions I've seen Sis or even ITRs parked in a distant corner of a parking lot I usually park next to them. Its such a rare sight so its neat to see.
Maybe the owner just likes or appreciates your car.

oh man, i just checked up on the SS supercharged cobalt.... only rated 201hp!... thats depressing... Poor guy, maybe I should let him ride in the SI.

SS Supercharged Cobalt is faster than our Si unfortunately. Just to save you a little embarassement

 

ET 14.5 with a good driver... the SI got a 14.2 with a good driver... looks about the same to me still.

Sides, I wouldnt be embarrassed even if I did lose, slap a charge on my engine to even it out and see what happens to him then.

a.....Modded Si got 14.2 AND at Atco * which is a shitty track * all the equipment is horrible.

 

You've got the better car. His is just slightly faster stock. An Si with a supercharger owns that car in every possible way.

 

He probably parks next to you because he is assuming you appreciate your car and others' also, lowering the chances of a door ding. Careful with those supercharged Cobalts... there is some kind of GM performance upgrade for $700.00 that makes them very quick! But of course we still have the nicer car.

 

from a roll on the highway...i am glad to say that i have in fact beaten an ss cobalt. i do have a video clip on my digital camera...so ill see if i cant get a vid up on here. Honda's top end is just amazing.

The ignorance in this thread makes my head explode.

Cobalt SS's are known to pull 200+whp to the tire with a lot more torque. They weigh the same, and with even a halfway decent driver can pull better times. They should be a much faster car in a straight line.

Stock Si's pull high 14's/low 15's in the 92-93mph range. I've personally seen Cobalt SS's pull 14.5's at 96-97mph. From a stop, or from a roll, there really is no contest given 2 equal drivers. Get a sucky driver behind the wheel and anything can happen, quite frankly.

At a normal stoplight showdown with 2 equal drivers, expect the Si to lose.

PS: I take it as a compliment when a fellow sport compact owner parks next to me. I came out from Best Buy the other day and a yellow IT-R was parked next to me out at the very end of the parking lot. Almost brought a tear to my eye.

 

Do you SI guys really think you can take the cobalt SS? Granted IMO they're POS cars , but the fact is they are faster. Doesnt mean they're better though .. keep that in mind.

i've raced one in my si while at the "unofficial" race area for the weekends, and at the track. guy beat me at the track by about 3 tenths of a second. different guy beat me at the weekend place by about a car length. they may only have a little over 200 hp, but they have a ***** ton more torque. both are fwd with lsd, so put a supercharger on the civic and its owned. then again, YOU have to install the supercharger and hope nothing ***** up cuz his car is boosted under warranty. i love the si, and when i get my turbo i will own every cobalt ss i come across. hell, i might get out and slap the guy and lick his girls face just to be an ******* but not really

Here at the philly street races, there's 2 stock SS Cobalt's that come through and try to race everyone. Their supercharger's sound sick, but let's just say that my buddy's Cobalt LT has ran REAL REAL close to them and my stock SI del sol has smoked them. They seem extremely slow at the line, but once they hit maybe.. 60 or 70, they gain speed QUICK. Either way, A Cobalt SS is just a supped up cavalier that won't make it past 80,000 miles.

There was the guy who pulled a 13.9 in 100 degree weather. The one they caught on video racing the Exige.

Then again he had drag radials, IIRC.

 

When I was at the gym today, a Galaxy Gray Si parked next to me. I thought it was cool to see two FG coupes parked next to each other.

...wish I got the Si though, instead of the LX.

I havnt raced one yet but i dont think we can beat them heads up either. Even though its a different car, i raced a friends neon srt-4 the other night, i got a bad jump and he beat me. He claimes its the stock turbo and he didnt do anything to it yet, he got the car about a week ago. I know the ss is supercharged and not turbo , but im sure the cars would run similar, as our cars are stock. only thing i have done is short ram intake.
