Default koyo rad needs fan??

i recently bought a koyo radiator for my ITR and it seems to be twice as thick as the stock rad. I also had an aftermarket header in place so not much room for the stock fan to be bolted on...ok maybe it'll barely fit in but not sure yet. Is there anyone out there also using this popular koyo rad for their Integra? still keep the fan or have it taken out and not needed anymore? any ideas?

as far as my understanding.. all rads needs fan

and yeah the stock fan would be too fat .. you will need to get slim/thin fan

I have fluidyne rad which is at least twice as thick as stock and an edelbrock header. I just had to barley trim the fan to fit. You'll just have to install it and see if it clears. If you have ac then it won't work. You have to run the slim FAL fans..more$$$ good luck

The twin FAL fans for the ITR will be great if you have the clearance. If not, use a FAL 12" on the engine side (puller), and a 10" (pusher) mounted between the radiator and A/C unit. This is about the only way to get two fans in there with the Koyo radiator and a large header.

I'm running a Koyo and have a slim fan on the tranny side.
I have no fan infront of the header

Here's my Griffen rad with the FAL slim line dual fan setup with the stock header.

Here it is with the SMSP header.

I installed a Koyo Showa R1741 last night. Besides the Koyo radiator, my 97R is completely stock with A/C and I was able to fit both factory fans on there. The A/C fan in front of the stock header/heat shield fit with no issues, but the larger radiator fan on the tranny side took some work. The bolt holes did not match up between the stock radiator fan and the R1741 so I had to turn the fan upside down(the bottom fan holes match up with the top of the radiator). I am still not happy with the fan fitment, but it works and is not going anywhere.

Anybody find a 1.1 cap that fits? I bought a Honda cap that fits(88-91 CRX), but it is a 0.9. All of the Koyo caps I have seen are 1.3. I think my NSX has a 1.1 so I guess that is the next thing to try.

^^^

1997 ITRs came with Denso Rads, so thats why the fan mounting holes are different.

I tried this at EXPO if anyone saw me tinkering in the parking lot. I'm selling the FAL dual fan from this project if any are interested, cheap. The Koyo radiator and SPOON header combo would have worked IF I didn't have A/C.

yeah my koyo rad that i have is Denso so i think it'll fit well, according to my supplier. There's Showa and Denso and i don't know why there's two different kinds to choose from....i hope it fits and the stock fan can be bolted on as well providing there's enough clearance between my vision header and the rad.

As for the cap, you can get a Blitz or ARC cap. I jus noticed that there's no rad comes with it so i have to order one and the supplier said both of those caps will fit fine.

where can i find a slim fan? any particular brand that's good for direct bolt on? i don't have a/c in my ITR so one fan will do the trick.
