I have read that civics have a connection between the headunit and keyless entry/alarm and that if you remove the stock headunit you cannot use them. I searched but as usual I found nothing, I suck at searching. I will need to put a new headunit in my car (97 Prelude SH) when I get the money to buy one and a new amp kit for my system. Thanks in advance for any help, I'm a Honda noob still learning to drive my new 5 speed. HAHAHA

 

not that i know of. i never heard of the 5th gen having a connection between the head unit and the alarm. i have an alpine in my car and my factory alarm worked fine.

 

Yeah, this is only a problem in 96-98 civics to my knowledge.

 

sivikvtec is absolutly correct only 96-98 civics have the alarm/keyless controls running through the radio, along with the domelight with the door open
no other honda has this "problem"

 

I replaced the audio deck on my 5th gen... and can still use my keyless entry
Nothing fancy had to be done.
