Default JDM K20A Oil

I just picked up a 98 Type R with a JDM K20A swap. I'm looking to change the Oil and Tranny fluid. Anyone know how many quarts of oil each takes? The previous owner ran Mobil1 10-30. Anyone know what weight to go with for the tranny? Thanks.

Use motor oil in your six speed tranny only in an emergency. Just go with Honda MTF for normal use, or Motul Gear Oil if it's a race car.

A K20A would normally take 5W-20 oil. I am not sure why the previous owner would have used 10W-30 unless it was an attempt to keep the Mobil1 from burning off. I think Castrol Syntec is a better choice, but that's just me. If you can afford it, Motul is the best, IMHO.

I've experimented with both and have kept some logs on oil consumption with mobil1 5w30 and castrol syntec 5w30. The Mobil1 consistently burned off faster. But neither of them burned off fast enough to cause major concern.
