Default 88 CRX DX My new $1100 car.

[b]Bought it for $1100 and haven't had to do anything to it yet, will need some minor work at some point fairly soon though (possibly brakes, exhaust/muffler, and definitely gotta upgrade to a CD player, seriously, I don't even own any tapes.). Had less than 100k on it when I bought it.

[b]Unfortunately it is an automatic. I would have loved to get a manual. It did come with a free tire gague....score!

[b]Everything was there but the lock for the storage tray area was ripped out, I have since fixed it.

[b]

[b]Plan on keeping it as stock as possible. I want to go for high MPG without drastic modification, rather than speed and acceleration. Couldn't find an HF anywhere nearby. Actually just happened to stumble onto this one. Already getting average about 43MPG.

[b]Unfortunately the previous owner attatched a roof rack THROGH the metal roof rather than getting the proper hardware to do it right. I am going to leave it on for now until I feel ambitious enough to take it off and fill the holes in the roof somehow.

[b]It did have some rust repair on both rear wheel wells at some point. Whoever did it did a good job but there are some bubbles starting to show. I expect that it sat somewhere for a while. The plastic in the right rear is faded in the shape of the right rear triangular window.

[b]Gonna need a new exhaust at some point. It's a little bit noisy. Anyone got any suggestions for better fuel economy?

[b]Any easy suggestions for getting better fuel economy would be greatly appreciated.

that thing is mint, who cares if its auto, that can be changed.

I'm becoming very suspicious of the "deals" that so many people on HT seem to be finding. That car wouldn't sell for less than $2500 where I live (Tucson). I'm not calling the author of this post a liar, but I think there are more than a few bullshitters here. I'm ALWAYS looking for good deals on CRXs and Civic Hatchbacks. Somehow I miss all the clean cars for under $1000...

Either that or some people just don't want to admit how much they really paid.

Nice CRX by the way! I see it has no A/C. So maybe you're the only one who's truthful.

I just happened to find a good deal, so far that is, it could have major hidden problems down the road *fingers crossed*, hopefully not.

I live in Maine and was lucky to find one of this year not rusted out from the road salt (it did have rust repair over rear wheel wells). No real need for A/C in this area either.

Default 43mpg?

I am not out to call you a liar but something is odd. Checking the EPA ratings it showed a 1988 Honda CRX Auto was for 30mpg city and 37mpg highway...so not sure if you're doing a lot of downhill driving to get your claimed 43mpg.

nice find. i'm looking at one this sat. as well. it's a 91 dx automatic with power windows, locks, and cruise control. i'm looking forward to see if it's aftermarket or adapted from edm,jdm crx's. unfortunately no ac either. how hard would that be to plumb anyone? maybe when that dx motor gives up the ghost i'll do a b16a automatic, sweet.

If you want better mpg, do the warm air intake mod to it.
