Default good idea to go to synthetic if my car is "using" oil.

i drive a 90 exr stick and i'm wondering if it would be wise for me to switch to mobil 1 synthetic at 207,000km. i already picked up a big jug of the stuff but sorta questioning if i should put it in.. i know my car uses some oil but there is no visible blue smoke at all, but the dipstick has gone from midpoint on the dipstick to around the bottom hole on the dipstick. what do you guys think is causing this and will mobil 1 synthetic make the problem worse?

thanks.

thanks for the reply. i'm pretty sure its not leaking because theres no leak spots under my car where i park it. i have noticed some sludgy buildup on the bottom of the engine area though...but no leaks. and its not really that big a difference between synthetic and regular maybe around $10 i think.

i beleive synthetic oil is a good choice. i use valvoline full synthetic, and at 280,000 miles, im still running strong. havent burned much of it. and if u have a leak, synthetic will not make it worse or better, wear and tear will take care of that.

I was under the assumption that switching oils with a motor that has already been using conventional oil will hurt your seals any truth to that
