ABS - replacing my modulator/accumulator today
- edit - this is on my '95 teg
i noticed there is a short wire harness that connect to the fuse box, and then 6 little plugs that go into the motor. i'm assuming these are for the 2 in lines and the 4 out lines. in the diagram on the parts fiche, it looks like they are all shaped the same.
- does it matter what order they go in? and if so, how in the hell can i tell what goes where other than memory? thanks!
- also, any suggestions on what method i should use for minimal brake spillage and minimal bleeding required afterward? i was gonna use a turkey baster to suck up as much brake fluid as possible before i start disconnecting stuff. i'm also hoping that if i can prevent leaking i won't have to bleed the calipers afterward. i'm dreaming, huh? thanks for helpful replies, guys. also, thanks to guymosirus for the parts.

the helms manual gives instructions for removing the accumulator, but it says to toss it afterwards. how difficult/safe is it to remove the accumulator, replace the o-ring, and re-install it? am i gonna die?
well i did the whole thing myself, thanks to all the replies i got. the accumulator was really easy. just two bolts on the bottom and it pops right out. i replace the o-rings for the accumulator and the motor while i had everything apart (extra $2.50 at honda) and the operation was pretty straightforward, although messy. i have abs again. woohoo!!! it's dark now so i only bled the two rear calipers, but whatever the car stops, albeit with a softish pedal. i'll go back and do the fronts in a couple of days.
It says "DANGER UNDER HIGH PRESSURE" all over that thing... i want my abs ligth out but i dont really want the abs anymore. The gasket is like 3 but the actual accumulator is 300$$. And good job man!!
thanks. you know, your accumulator might not be toast. pull the trouble codes for your abs first. if your motor still works, sometimes it's just the little o-rings that go toast. but once you have the whole damn thing apart, you might as well replace the accumulator. i found my whole abs unit (block, motor, accumulator) for $63 shipped right here on honda-tech. in fact there's another guy that has one he'll do for $80 shipped. i'll give you his id if you want to pm him.
