i have '91 honda accord ex, manual, with 295,500 miles. i've taken my car to the mechanic 2 times already. the problem i'm having is i lose power when i'm attempting to accelerate between gears. i sometimes have to floor it in order to keep up with any posted speed limit. it feels like my car has the hiccups. this will last for about 10-15 minutes, then, the check engine light comes on and everything is fine. i can then accelerate with ease.

i had an oil leak which leaked into the spark plugs. the leak has been fixed, spark plugs, wires and distributor replaced. the mechanic claims he has checked every thing that could still possibly cause the problem...fuel filter/injector, engine pressure loss etc. (diagnostics was done but i forget the error code). now he beleives that the only other possibility is the engine computer and the only way to find out is to swap it out to see if it happens again.

does anyone here have any other suggestions?

 

u might wann get it checked out by someone else and see if they say its the same problem cuz the guy ur useing might be tryin to run u 4 moer money then u really have to spend

 

did he bother changing the valve cover gasket?

 

yeah he did...forgot to mention that.

 

could it be the tranny?
