Default WTB: begginner bike, $1000 or less...

Ok, so I am looking for my FIRST real bike. I grew up riding and racing dirt bikes...

but I want a street bike, and a fixxer upper more or less. I want something that will carry me, I am a big guy, and I know im not too big, but I want something of atleast a 500cc or a 600cc...

It doesnt even have to run, I just want something to tinker with this fall/winter other than my car, while I wait on parts and ****...

show me what your working with. Distance wise, not too far, but I will ship it at MY expense...I work for FedEx and can have it shipped at a discounted rate...

I am located in Nahsville, TN

looking for something sporty

I've got a red '82 Yamaha XS400 special. S'not running right now because of a electrical crapout somewhere. There was a little melted white plastic plug connection thing we found under the seat. It ran nicely earlier this year until the problem happened one day and it doesn't like to start and stay on for long. As you can see, I'm in central Illinois, so yeah. Just seein' if you're interested.

Not trying to be a dick but you should be because $1000 isn't a lot for a bike.

welll my dad is sort of a wheeler and dealer, and I had a friend buy a bike that didnt run for 500 bucks, it wasnt the prettiest thing in the world, but he got it looking nice. And no offense taken...

but Ive seen my dad get bikes for cheap, and I got him looking, so I know there are cheap bikes out there, I am just keeping my eyes open, and thats all I am asking too...if you see something, send it my way, and I will appreciate it

One of the guys i work with (and a close buddy) has a 92 or 93, not sure what year, Kawasaki Ninja 600R?? i think thats what it is...its all black, old school style obviously. It runs, and everything is there....there is an issue somewhere in the exhaust that is causing the bike to kill after 20-30 min of riding....He wants $400 bucks for it, but i doubt he'll go through the trouble to ship it. Let me know if your interested, i will see if he can ship. I can get pictures sometime next week, its at his house.

i dont know if this is the same one...but this is what it looks like.

My brother has the same exact bike, currently rebuilding the engine because the HG went. Parts are cheap but not all are still avaliable in the US, the bike is still being produced in England though. 90-93 are the ZX6D's some may be an E also, anything above 93 is a ZX6E. If you need anymore information hit me up

Damn there are some reaal decent bikes here. why cant I find something like this around chicago?

A guy at the MSF bought a real pristing 83 suzuki 750 something. it was one of the first full faired streetbikes accoriding to him. has round headlights and it looked real nice. only had 3000 miles! It was his friends. i wish I found something cool like that.

A lot of deals require some maintenence or work. like what would the problems be? I know thats a hard question to answer.

I am decent at working on cars so bikes should be aa bit easier since everything is more accesible and such. I never worked with carbs though.
