they are both vtec ecu's just one is already prechipped to control the IAB's in the stock gsr intake manifold. If you dont have the stock gsr IM then get which ever is cheaper

since you are running a gsr motor, i suggest you run the p72 ecu. trust me, a p30 ecu wont run better than a p72. p30 is design for b16, not gsr.

?? there is absolutely no difference in running a chipped p72 over a chipped p30 if youre using a single staged manifold. Designed for a gsr?? If you mean the stock maps, then obviously yes, but I believe his question isnt concerning the stock fuel values. (Whole reason going to obd1 is to tune)

If we're talking stock ECU's, it definitely depends on which manifold you have on your engine. If you still have the stock GSR manifold, then of course, the P72. But if you have a single stage manifold then the P30. While you can still use the P72 on a single stage manifold, the VTEC engagement is too early to maximize the non VTEC power band.

As a stock ecu, you should run the p30 over the p72 since you are running the skunk2 IM. BUT, you also mentioned that your motor is fully built. If so, you need to get a chipped ecu (chipped/converted p06, chipped p28/p30/p72/etc) and have it tuned for your set up to optimize the most power out of your motor. I wouldn't run a stock ecu on a fully built motor since there's a huge chance of either running lean or detination.

see, you should of stated all of these on your first post. You should run the p30 instead now but you really need a chipped ecu and get it tune since you have a built motor. but let me know which shop you gonna get it tune by. just to let you know, dont go to JDM2. i heard lots of bad story about him.

been to both jdm 2 and method, both tried to rape me! If you got the cash, Vern at Raver motorsports in Visalia is probably the best tuner in centra cali. He's a hondata dealer and pro at tuning, but he does charge a bit more then both shops in fresno, but then again, your paying for his knowlegde also, not just his time. They're not open to the public anymore since he only deals with serious builders, but to get your car tuned by him would be worth the money. Had me lv/vtech build by him few years back, and he tuned with S200, best investment ever!!!

I bought a clutch from Raver. Small shop, but they look pretty legit. Price was decent and the part showed up when they said it would.

How built is your engine?

I got blox type B tuner series, but i haven't installed them yet, waiting to hear from a buddy of mine who used to work with Vernon at Raver Motorsports to see if he can squeeze me in for a tune session. I don't want to install them if I can't get it tuned by him anytime soon. Hopefully by next month.
