look at your engine, to the left of the exhaust manifold/header there is a code, should be something like D16y7 or B18C1 or something of the sort, report the code back here and anybody can tell you if it's a VTEC engine or not, also, if it's the stock engine jsut tell us what kind of car you have (and year)... I mean obviously it's a civic but the trim (DX, EX, Si, etc.)
well on the engine their isnt any codes but a serial number and it has ex on the head but my car is a dx i think the engine was switched or something i know it has a p2e ecu oh its 1997 honda

that's your stock ecu, so even if you had a swapped motor, there wouldn't be vtec. you lose

Word of advise. Figure out exactly what you have first before you start posting stupid questions like "Do I have vtech." Thats like asking "do I have a *****." The answer should be pretty obvious....

that doesn't mean he doesn't have vtec, there are other ways to trigger the vtec solenoid, ie.. rpm switch, vafc, wired switch, other vtec controllers. as mentioned before look on the head towards the back near the distributor for a vtec solenoid, its pictured above. if its got one it has vtec if not it doesn't.
