HELP!!! My Accord is not starting.
I have a problem with my 1994 Accord LX, it refuses to start.
First some background: A year ago it did it for the first time, i went to the shop come out and turned the key it did not start, engine was turning and everything was working ok. For some reason i decided to pump my Accelerator pedal several times and it did start. Since then this problem occurs at least once a month, as always pumping the accelerator pedal makes it start it again.
But, a month ago i had to pump it for at least 10 minutes to get it going, after that it was running fine , i even took 800 miles trip with no problem. At that time I decided to check the obvious suspects:
Fuel pump, i went inside the trunk and put my ear over the fuel pump, i could hear it make the noise for couple of seconds, when the key is turned ON.
I unbolted the hose which goes from fuel filter to the injectors, fuel was coming out, so i decided fuel firlter is not cloged.
When i open the fuel cap i can hear the hissing sound, so i am not loosing the pressure.
What else i can check:
Today it did it again and i can not start the car, i want to fix it this time instead of trying to pump accelerator pedal all the time. I already pumped it for 5-6 minutes nothing is helping.
Could it be Distributor, Spark plugs, Injectors, Alternator? Injectors have never been replaced and car has 147K miles.
Battery and starter are OK because when i start the car it makes all the noises it is supposed to do, but does not start.
I hope somebody knows what could be the problem.
Thank you very much.

If it works when you pump the gas then the logical conclusion is that it's a gas related problem. Have you had a look at your injectors at all? Pulled the fuel pump out? If you're getting fuel to the filter I'd wager clogged injectors.
Checked it for spark?
I'd suggest a correct diagnostic before running out and buying injectors. I've rarely seen injector problems in that model
if no spark check for battery power at the black/yellow wire of the coil when the key is on or in the 'crank' position. That will tell you if the ignition switch is working.

Hi,
I decided to check parts related to the starting of the car, and i started with easiest part which was distributor cap and rotor.
I opened up the Dist. cap and all four metal thingies had some thick deposit on them, it was britle, looked like aluminum dust or smth after cleaning it and putting everything together the car started at first attempt.
I hope that was the problem, and i only need to get a dist cap and rotor.
If anybody thinks there could be something else please reply.
Thanks.

Pumping the pedal on a fuel injected car while cranking does nothing toward adding fuel. I suspect it is nothing more than coincedense. Problem is probably Distributer/spark/plugwire related or main relay or ignition switch.
Do as hondadude said and check for spark first.
Edit: Ground is also very important. Make sure all grounds are clean and tight.

already posted this on another problem that was similar
check your harness plugs you could have a bad connection in one that causes your car to do this, corrosion will make it act up if the fuel pump is running then check for spark like dude said and check the harness real good. bulged wires, any green build up will cause resistance on that wire and make your car not start.

my car does the exact same thing, 94 lx and it's been doing it for 2 yearson and off one day it would not start and the next day start right the HELL UP!!!! anyway i did all that **** you all posted for BOHO my next goal is changing the ignition electrical switch. What seems to work for me is gently inserting the key in the ignition and turning it qucikly and reallesing it quickly seems to work oddly enough.
