Would you rather be engineering NHRA cars for Mopar or waiting for the drift cars to finish so you can have a solo pass in front of 20 screaming fans

This is not a step up, it's his first step out the door. Mopar is pushing real hard to keep him involved in the NHRA. DSR is willing to keep him for the money. He can't drive a pro stock car and he sure as hell can't "engineer" one because if he could set one up he would have shown the professionals how it's done and he would have had a faster car to qualify with. Mopar wants him there and DSR want Mopars money. If it wasn't for the money he would have been gone after the first few races. That's a fact!!!
It's now clear that his driving was not up to the job. Allen Johnson sure doesn't want him but may end up with him anyway.
Now that this guy has made the sport compact racers look bad, who from our ranks would be a good replacement? Any ideas?

I disagree. I dont know how you can say just because someone cant drive a car means they cant engineer. The key word in what you said was "professionals"...I dont know any driver besides John Force thats going to go out there and "show them how its done". In this sport there is no I in Team..he cant do it all. If DSR really didnt want him..they would get rid of him, plain and simple. Hopefully Shaun Carlson can prove himself now that he has the chance. I dont know.. just my 2cents.

I think it is a good move for shaun, may not be driving but he is still young and has plenty of time for that later. DSR or any team would not move a guy to enginearing or test their car if they did not trust him or want him. Congrats shaun!!!
BTW, are we still on for the open house at DSR at the US Nats?

I heard somewhere that she has or had some involvement with a funny car team. I know this sounds crazy, but I think she may have more success there than in a pro stock car. Does anyone have any info on this? I can't remember the details or if it was just a rumor.

Brad Personett, Jason Hunt and Paul Efantis are all BADASS drivers but, would they make the change? Who knows?

so instead of driving, 3/4 thru they make him a "fab" guy again ? did i read everything right - hes got skills in the "fab" world for sure cant arguee that. But with people like Don Ness / Jerry Bickel / Hansons ( sorry for the spelling ) avail with a simply phone call how much can he offer ?
I think that DSR is just taking the first step on getting ready to totally release him from the program. I feel that DSR'S pro stock team has alot of work to do but its just so competitive in the pro stock and it takes a time to get it all together. I dont think he has taken a step up, just one step closer off the program.

I agree. You know, he may have more to offer than we think. It would be nice if we had someone from s/c be a major contributor to NHRA pro stock racing. I still say if they keep him it's for the money. He was a big fish in s/c racing but now that he is playing with the big boys he's a little fish with not much to offer.
