Default Circuit City worker question about price

If you know, can you tell me what the employee price is for the Eclipse XA1000?? My friend that works there says he can get it for $90...its $299 regular price, is that true? I don't believe it can be that great of deal.

Eclipse XA1000

i don't know the actual employee price, but most markup on car audio equipment is 50 points. which means the amp probably costs a normal shop around 150 or close to it. but because of CC buying power they can get better pricing.. that amp may also have a huge markup. The 50 point rule does not apply to all brands.

Not sure about that, but I know they cut commission about 2-3 years ago I think.

Yes, i was in the install bay, brea. I left when the did the commision thing it was part of the reconstruction that screwwed every one. So glad I did, now I am the captin of my own ship, They made so much money off of me its said to say. I remember spending the night in my bay working on cars. We had 30 cars the week before x-mas. That had to be done. mobile vids, alarms, soundsystem. I stayed and did them. and a couple of my installers. I had good time there. bbq in the back on my lunch break. catering once a week lunch for my crew and some store workers. But the bad over weighs the good. But it worked out better for me. Some people lost alot.

I am an ex-circuit city roadshop employee. Circuit City Roadshop employees
have a one order per year per manufacturer employee "discounted" incentives.

Theres a name for this program but I forgot. $99 is a deal. Did he/she mention
if it was just a employee price? or the employee:manufacturer program thing?

At most maybe about $80-$100 for everyday employee prices is what I recall.
Don't quote me, I left right when Eclipse products were being stocked on shelves.

yeah"accomodations" is it. my friends got phat deals with Inifnity when CC carried them. I got a better tdeal than that tho....when they were closing their stuff out, i got 2 Infinity 1250w subs for $19 each, brand new. had nothing to do with the accomodations...they were just clearing their stock of infinity stuff. it wasnt advertised so i found out about it from a friend that worked there

right now eclipse is offering circuit city a good "accomodation" price. however you will have to order it directly through eclipse and wait for it to be shipped to the employee. if he bought it through the store, the discount would not be as drastic. if you wait i heard that the "new accomodation" prices are coming out shortly, with up to 70% msrp. just a rumor though, the current accomodation prices are good till the end of the month.

Yep they eliminated commission. I heard they canned all their high-paid commission folks, to go to lower, hourly-paid new people.

I interviewed with them shortly after that happened. Decided against working there though. At the time I just needed something temporary to pay the bills.

At my location they got rid of commission but upped the payscale. All of the guys I work with lived through that and none of them have any complaints. It's better for the workers and the customers.

I saw the page that shows the max payscale and 15.something is the max for the roadshop. You'd have to be a manager or assistant manager to get more than that.

Circuit City's employee discount sucks. It's not even worth getting. Some things we get "at cost" to the store, but I can still find it cheaper online. These things include roadshop installation parts like amp kits and dash kits. On everything else, the discount works out to be about what you pay in sales tax.

Accomodations is something else. It's offered by the various manufacturers. The thing is that you have to install it in your car and you can't sell the equipment or a car for one year. You have to get a manager to sign the approval and if they want, they can verify that you actually put it in your car. If you can't prove it, you can be fired. There's not a lot of discipline at CC. If you get busted, you get fired. Don't go to CC begging for us to give you our employee discount because we hate that.

The manufacturer's set limits on it to make sure you don't abuse it by reselling the **** at a profit or hooking up your friends. The limitations are usually a dollar amount AND a one-per type of product. This doesn't carry over between manufacturers, but if your manager sees that you bought an Eclipse amp, a Kicker amp, and an Infinity amp, he's going to get suspicious and ask to see it. I'm cool with the manager, but after buying two stereos he wanted to see that I did in fact have two cars.

The manufacturers intention with accomodations is to promote familiarity with their particular product so you can sell it better. I can say that it works. People ask me how to work an Eclipse stereo in great detail, a Sportster, or how good an Eclipse amp sounds, and I can answer with confidence.

The accomodation on Eclipse products is roughly 50%. It expires after a while. Right when I was going to get something, it expired, then they redid it a few weeks later. Eclipse shipping is very fast. When I got a sub from Infinity, it took 3 months. But then again, I ordered it right at Xmas. BTW we no longer carry Infinity.

However, if you don't trust your "friend" then I don't think he's really your friend at all.

I think just about all manufacturers do this for its retailers.

A few years back I picked up soundstream products at 60% off

Bought the 10.2 and Picasso for a fraction of the $1k a piece asking price.

You took the words right out of my mouth. When cc did the reconstruction i was starting training to be the S&I manager. I had been working there for 4 years off and with school and that place went to ****. They tried to be best buy, which is why cc was way better before then because the people that worked there knew what was going on. Now it is mostly a bunch of idiots that dont know a diode from a *****. I was an installer there and on the sales floor. I also worked at best buy and they werent much better, you were locked in the install bay unless a manager or supervisor would come let you out. I had way more fun at cc, but best buy paid better. I still miss working at CC before all the bullshit, it was the most fun i have ever had at work.

Sorry for jumping in on the wagon, but i saw the thread and had to vent.
