Default Del Sol fuel pump issue?

Just bought a 93 Sol Si, sometimes it I can hear it prime and then the car will start and die and then I will not hear the fuel pump. Takes it a little while to be able to prime and stay running again. Sounds kinda like the typical fuel relay issue, but when I have experienced it, the car ususally doesnt start at all. Not the start and run for a few seconds and die like mine does.

Heres the thing this Sol has had the fuel pump replaced recently. Im not sure what it was replaced with, (trying to get that info currently)but it is much louder than any honda pump I have heard.

Has anyone replaced their pump with a discount auto or autozone unit before and are they louder than OEM?

OR does the loud pump tell something else, like it is on its way out, thats why it has been intermittent?

OR option 3.. I probally have a fuel pump from a K5 Blazer in my Del Sol.....

Thanks in advance!

i had the same problem..... but i knew i had a stock fuel pump. Regardless what fuel pump it is, get a test light and checkl it when the fuel pump primes (should light up). Also check it when it doesnt prime. if the test light lights up then u need to replace the fuel pump, if it doesnt light up then you have to check the main relay or it could be something else. good luck

under further inspection, the noise I am hearing is comming from under the dash. passengers side it seems, and it is in direct relation to when the car doesnt run/work.

it is a kind of like a loud electric motor sound, similar to a fuel pump, but louder.

Is the relay under the driverside like every other civic/integra?

I say it's a faulty relay out of a K5 Blazer
