well for about the past 5 years ive been into tuning hondas and acura's. trust me i have had my fair share of swaps and what not. well i have sold all of my completed projects and im getting ready to move on to another.ive always been sedued into the looks of the DC5 but never thought it was worth the money. well heres my dilema i want a strret car thats consideringly fast but it has to be a daily driver... so i think turboing the RSX is out the question. so are there alot of aftermarket parts for the RSX besides turboing it...(Also fast to me is a type R swap with a built head)...also if i was getting the RSX i would be getting the Type-s model.. the main reason for the purchase is to prevent me from doing a swap and just tunning the RSX engine all comments and help will be greatly appreciated

the main thing i wanna see is 1. what are the main Exterior differences betwwen the older and newer models and 2. is it poosible to get a good amount of power out of the K20 without tourbiong it. 3. if doing this is it still gonna be possible to be daily driven

you could get I/E/H and hondata #4 and itd be pretty quick. i think some ppl with this setup have run high 13s to low 14s with good tires.

Well. 1. The difference between the 02-04 and the 05-06 is the Front and Rear Ends. The front on the 05's are more like how a civic headlight should look with different front bumpers and lips. The rear taillights are more flat like a preludes. Also, changes to the rear bumper and rear lips as well. Side skirts were also changed on the Type S in 05. Just do a search or go to the DC5 Pic thread here on HT and you'll see different pics. Wheels Also changed as well
2. Why turbo if you're going daily drivability? Ever heard of a supercharger before? Jackson Racing offers an amazing supercharger kit for the price of a turbo kit, including injectors and management and can see gains of up to 80whp on the race kit!
3. Start with your basic bolt ons. CAI/H/E. At least this builds a platform to use a supercharger and you're not wasting your money on parts you'll need to take out later like you would if you went turbo. Remember this, The K20a2(RSX-TypeS) has a compression ratio of 11.0:1 wereas the k20a3(base) 10.0:1. You have a little more room to work with if you're boosting a base model but the K20a2 is a better motor all around. You'll actually have a REAL VTEC as compared to the Base models not so much vtec, utilizing only 3 valves per cylinder until its "i-VTEC" kicks in, which isn't much of a "Kick". If you must go with the base model, here are some suggestions
1. Head work- A great set of cams to open it up will help especially if going supercharger
2. Cam gears will also work great with the initial tuning after adding boost
3. Ignition
I'm sure you already know most of this stuff seen as you've had your share of motor swaps and what not.
I myself have a Base Dc5 and I just do my research and figure out whats the best setup that will make it reliable and quick. Great website to find out more info about RSX's is ClubRSX.com You'll find out a lot of stuff there
to sum it all up. The Type S - K20a2 is a great motor even if you go boost. But it's pricey. The base Dc5 is a great platform, offering the great styling and they are pretty responsive to bolt ons. Supercharger will give it a good kick. Just start with your basic bolt ons and you'll have a better idea then.
