Default Anybody with HIDs w/o retrofit??

Looking for anyone with an 06' civic with HID's without the retrofit. Just curious how a plug and play kit looks? Pictures would be great or any sites where i can view how it looks.

TIA

elitist, hahaha, i'm far from that, **** my retrofit isn't the best, it's gettin the job done (ie light output and not blinding anyone) but is far from perfect, but hey it was my first retro ever, the work is hard and i thoroughly enjoy my hard work...

but none-the-less, i posted what he asked for, and of course i gotta throw my 2cents in

and I did it all w/out being a retro elite ***** (at least i hope thats how i came across)

I hope they are putting out a HID kit that just pop's in because we should not have to start cutting **** to make it fit.

the reason your cutting **** to make it fit is because the car did not come with it. . . and if the car did not come with it then they will not make kits for it because technically speaking, doing the HID retrofit is not legal. . . BUT You can pay people to do it for you check out http://www.customlightz.com

I think that's BS all you need is the bulbs and a separate box with enough juice to run it there has to be a kit ive seen so many honda's with them.

there is a difference between retrofit and an HID kit though. the retrofit will actually have projectors in the headlight housing so it will give u the clean crisp lines similar to an s2000. an HID kit that u just wire up the balasts and throw the bulbs in ur stock headlight housing will be bright, just not crisp and defined. thats my understanding of it anyways. if i get the time and money, im gonna do it. $850 isnt too bad of a price provided that they do all the customization, provide new headlight housings, ballasts, bulbs, etc. now if its just 850 for labor, then that does suck. DIY!

Its simple there should be projector kits you can buy that slide right in is that too much to ask for. I was not trying to be an ******* but yes ive seen kits before but maybe they werent projector but they looked good to me.

ha that was my car with the hid pnp, let me tell you hid is hid and its fine the way it is.... but id suggest you go with the retro cause, it makes your lights look pimp during the day, and at night you have that beautiful cutoff point , i just had 400 lyin around so i decided to get it, but in a couple of months im getting a retrofit done, so in fact i wasted $ :/ ............ and the reason my light went out when i went to lunch was cause one of the wires were lose that i soldiered together.

I have to agree with the retrofit guys. Inless you get the bulbs from a DC5R w/ balast, the output is just glare heaven. The ITR's bulbs are coated with some anti-glare glaze which is why the HIDs on the DC5R are crisp without use of projectors. Wish I knew what it was on the bulbs so we could just apply it ourselves!

what?

I have NEVER heard of that "coating" majority of the OEM non projector hid setups
the reason for "anti glare" is that most of the bulb is covered up by a special " cover" which refracts the light with the designed housing.

Maxima OEM hid bulbs have a "spray" on them which covers half the bulbs
while Acura's didnt ( this is for 00 model year TL vs Maxima) which we installed in my 00 civic ex 6 yrs ago.

there have been members on honda-tech that have actually CUT out the housing of a 00 TL and input that onto a 00 civic ex headlight so it will give off the non glare

NOTHING to do with magic DC5 R bulbs

Would it be safe to assume HID lights are illegal in California?

thanks for all the posts guys...just wanted some pictures to see how bad it looked. I understand the retrofit is the way to go. I was also just curious exactly how easy a plug and play kit was...

Another couple questions...which plug and play kit do you guys reccomend if i was to go that way?? Also, they say the higher the temperature the less light output. Like a 10000k HID will have less light output then say a 5000k HID. If i went with one with less light output, i was thinking it might have less glare. Do these operate at a higher temp where it will possibly melt the inside of my light assembly?

McCulloch - $350
Phillips - $460
XenonDepot (phillips) - $440
What others do you guys reccomend??

Does no one make a replacement set of headlights with projectors? For example, on my 95 coupe I have projector headlights with an HID kit. If someone made projector headlights for the FG wouldn't that be helpful?
