Default reliable track racer

Hello,

First time posting, but long time reader
Now I'm finaly on my way with my project. It might not be a honda completely, but atleast the engone will be! I am building a 73' Austin Mini with a honda engine as my weekend fun/track day car.

Anyway, I want to build a reliable track engine. The requirements are as follows (limited by rebuild regulations here in sweden, space, simplicity etc):
Must be a B-series
Must have an engine code that does not exceed 150HP

Since I am in sweden, we do not have many 1,8L engines. Easily available are b16a1 and a2 (a2 has too high HP rating!). Type-R engines wont work for that same reason. B20Z w/ vtec head would work, but not sure about reliability vs cost?

So, aiming for 180-190WHP (which will most likely be enough to start with in a 600kg car) what is my best option for a reliable build? Slightly built up b16a1? Or a CRVtec?

Can I reach 180 WHP with a b16a1 and simple boltons + cams and maybe some headwork? Or will internal engine work be needed? I guess that would get me a more reliable high reving engine for a whole lot less than the b20z build?

And please, no "search" replies. Haven't found any topics about this regarding track reliability

Give me some thoughts before I start buying stuff

/Carl
