Rear LCA's: Are they hard to remove?
Well as we all know how the rear lower control arm bolt connected to the shock fork is almost always ceased on our integras. Well I wanted to know how hard it is to remove the LCA's altogether? I got a set of extra LCA's, so I plan on swapping those in with my new OMNI coilovers on my daily driver teg. So I dont have to deal with torching out the bushings and getting new ones ($$$$)
Theres 2 bolts on the LCA, do these come out easy? Or are they just as hard to take out... Never had to do this before.
Thanks in advance
pic of a lower control arm to give you an idea, not mine:

there's actually three bolts on the LCA .. and the one that connects the shock is usually the one to seize.... other than that, a good impact will get them out.. i've removed all three with a 250lb impact no problem

Ya there's 3 bolts. But what I meant is that I'm not going to touch the one that bolts to the shock/spring because it is ceased. I want to take out the LCA along with the shock assembly as one unit. So therefore I only have to deal with the 2 bolts. So my question is how hard are those bolts to take out

IF you have access to air tools, it won't be hard at all. If not, they might give you a little trouble, but nothing a good size breaker bar can't handle. Also spray some PB Blaster on there to help loosen some of the grim on there.

I did the same thing on my 99 teg a few weeks ago. Bought aftermarket LCA's thinking i was avioding the trouble bolts, just like you did. This didn't work for me at all. Both sides' outer LCA bolts were seized, and one inner LCA bolt was. All in all, to install my rear suspention, I had a total of 6 seazed bolts. And I thought it was bad on my old civic that had 2 seized rear LCA bolts... :/
Not saying this will happen to you, but be prepared for it to happen.

Weight reduction, bling, avoiding terrible bolts.

Just don't snap the head off any old bolt's..
I torched the bolt lightly to warm it up so some liquid wrench could thread itself down with the change in temp. let it sit for about 1/2 hour and the f.cking head snapped off, it was amillino degrees out and Ihadn't eaten all day.. oh it was the last bolt too.. probably the most unenjoyable experiences of my life.

A few months ago I did the whole coilover/Omni LCA's install on my 99 LS and all three bolts in both control arms were seized. I ended up snapping the heads off of several of the bolts...then torched out the rest. It turned out to be a 2 day installation...not fun
