burning oil, single black spark plug
i'm burning oil and i've checked the spark plugs.. one of them is black and charred up. where do i start with troubleshooting?
i've searched and haven't been lucky in finding an instance where a single spark plug was black.....
thanks in advance.
might i add, motor is bone stock, 211,000kms.

Since you are fowling only one plug, and it is evident you are losing oil, that cylinder is most likely getting most if not all of the oil you are losing. This could be caused by a leaking headgasket that is allowing oil to enter the combustion chamber. It could also be caused by failed rings on your pistons. Unfortunately, Honda isn't known for having the best piston rings. This leads to oil consumption in a lot of their cars with higher miles (over 100k miles).
Check for a headgasket leak first, and do a compression test to see what kind of numbers you are getting. After you do this, report back and we'll work from there.

My wife's EM1 is having the same problem. Only thing is...her car is idling rougher than ****, whole engine is shaking, and car is throwing codes 71 and 72 (random misfires in cylinders one and two). Only cylinder two has a charred, oil covered spark plug.
I replaced the plugs and it is still idling like garbage...I hope it isn't a failed piston ring. I don't have that kind of experience on these engines yet and we want to sell this thing.
