bybass for fuel pump when it gets clogged?

i heard someone tell me once that a fuel pump has a bypass valve were it starts sucking up fuel from if the sock filter thing for the main valve ever got clogged.. is this true? i have a walbro 255 btw. thanks.

I've never heard of that before in my life. If that sock filter gets clogged you have big problems anyway.
