I am planning my first visit to Infineon later this month for the IRL race. I would like advice on hotels and restaurants (every track seems to have that *one* good restaurant nearby), as well as the best vantage points at the track.
Tips, tricks, etc...whatever you can contribute to this thread about Infineon Raceway will be greatly appreciated. Who knows, maybe this will start a track FAQ trend.

Being Infineon is only 45 miles away from my home, one might think I will have lots of recommendation.
Unfortunately, since it is so close, I've always go home to sleep in my own bed, eats near my house, or BBQ at the track.
Sorry, can't help you.

turn #2 is the best place to watch and take pics.
The Courtyard by Marriott 1400 N. Hamilton Parkway Novato (415) 883-8950 or 1-800-321-2211
Inn Marin 250 Entrada Drive Novato 94949 (415) 883-5952
We stay at both of these when racing at sears and they are both nice is different ways, the Courtyard is newer. There is a restaurant at the Inn Marin that serves good food, there are lots of other restaurants in the area that are also good.

I think Inn Marin has Speed Channel too.

If the hotels close to the track (Sonoma or Novato) are full or too pricey, I stay in Vallejo or Fairfield just to the east.
The inside of turn two is a good photo spot. If you've got a photo pass, the track media office has a VERY good map of the track that has photo locations and suggested times of day for best light. Very helpful...

if you go north on 101 one exit, from 37. (its the exit with everything off of it). They have a microbrewery, with some good food. there is also a chevy's at that exit.
In vallejo there is an aplebee, red lobster, thia food, wendeys, and some other places.
If your looking for a good sandwich, everyone seems to love the little sandwich stand pass the track on the right hand side. It maybe 5-10 miles up the rode. you cant really miss it. Awsome beefjerky and other foods.

Hey Reg,
We were there for SWC and Fairfield is much more inexpensive for hotels than Sonoma, and it actually is not that far away (15 minutes?)
We stayed at the:
Comfort Inn Cordelia
4441 Central Pl
Fairfield, CA 94534
USA
Nice place, decent price. (much better than the Motel 8 at Buttonwillow ha)
Thawley thought sleeping on the floor of our room was superb.

Indeed. It was the best floor I've ever slept on in the entire greater Fairfield area...

How much were the rooms at Comfort Inn Cordelia and Best Western Novato? Do they have free internet (wired/wireless)? I'm bringing my laptop.
I am at the race now and am staying at the Comfort Inn in Vallejo.
I did my business meetings today so I am walking around mostly for the next two days.

Sac got it right. $4 RC Cola, $5 curly fries, $6 cheeseburger.
I like how you can see almost the whole track from most anywhere in the stands or the infield viewing area by turn 2.
