AC Refrigerant
What year did honda switch to R 134 from R 12? I need to charge up the ol' AC and i am not sure which it is. Hopefully the r134 so i don't have to pay out the wazzu to get it done. I am using the compressor from a 94 or 95 jdm h22. I am pretty sure it is 134 but not positive. Thanks for the help
manual? not gonna help me out i got an h22. My car is a 90 which i think used r12 but now its got the h22 94 or 95 which i think is 134. So the only way i have to tell is by asking a honda dealer (he wasn't sure) or you guys

yeah tell me about it its probably my fault i said it was jdm then he got all dumb. I would assume it is r134 i just wanted someone to back me up before i try to get it charged. Did you still think it was a paperweight during that heat wave last week? I don't know how bad it was in VA but here in MD it got to like 96 F one day now its back to like 60 wacky *** weather.
I don't know if it's the compressor or condenser or both or what that determines which freon you need to use. You 90 condenser used R12, your 95 compressor is R134a. Hopefully someone knows which part(s) are sensitive to the differences. The parts counter guys aren't usually so bright.
hey man i am a parts guy haha. To be honest i seems not that smart cause all these rednecks come in and i can't understand a damn word they say. I work at trak auto so its all chevys and fords. how lame is that

well which do you use in your car?
I bet if you get it recharged, you'll be shocked at how much better it feels. Misa, 110lbs or not...I'll never ever have a daily driver in this neighborhood with no AC. Do you keep anti-perspirant in the car?
What you can do is go to a local auto parts store and buy a R134a conversion kit (like 35 bucks). You will find that on an R12 system and a R134a system the only difference is the valves used to put the refrigerant in.The R134a is not as efficient as the R12 so the condensor is larger in the 134 systems and when you use 134 in an R12 system it works just as good but is about 10 degrees warmer at the vents than R12. I've talked to the dealership and many A/C places about my 87 Accord. They all wanted over 200 bucks to convert it to 134a.I was even told that my car needed special fittings that would have to be ordered. I bought the universal conversion kit and got the universal fittings.(it comes with the refrigerant and oil also) I recommend you put the fittings on yourself and take it somewhere to be recharged. They will vaccuum the system down and add refrigerant. When they vaccuum it down they will know if you have any leaks or not. An R12 systems fittings look like big tire valve stems and the 134a fittings look like(usually silver) air hose pressure type fittings.I hope this will settle a few misconceptions and save you guys some dough.
so basically it would be easiest to switch back to my accord compressor? Or change the condenser? This is turning into more of a hassle than i thought. Maybe i'll just get a small block of ice with a fan behind it haha.
