What to do about this stripped nut?
I attempted to put in a rear strut bar with failed efforts. I was only able to get one of the four nuts off the top of the shock. The other 3 are tightly screwed on there. A couple of my buddies and I tried brute strength and a breaker bar but all it gave me were 3 stripped nuts. Im considering soaking it a bit in liquid wrench but im not sure how much that would help considering the fact that we cant even get the socket to wrap around the nut. I dont have an air gun and even then, it probably wouldnt work on a stripped nut. Im pretty much out of ideas, and that rear strut is just sitting in the back of my car being useless. Any ideas?
Grind two sides flat and bang an open end wrench on it to get it started. Don't use straight brute force tap on the end of the wrench with a dead blow hammer or something like that and use lots of PB Blaster to break the nut free. You can use pliers to get it the rest of the way off when the wrench might not work.
