Civic Si or RSX Type-S ????
Fit looks like dookie....
Si = Near same speed, but MUCH better handling
Type-S = A little faster on the straights, but handles weaker, also has slightly more luxury options, being as it comes from Acura...
If youre out for a performance vehicle, get the SI, it is less money for fancy features, and more towards performance and modability.
Type-S is still modable, but you have to pay more for the name and comfort features.

Type S- quick stock, handles pretty good stock, only bad thing I can think of is synchros wearing out and S tranny's arent really that good.
Si-know hardly anything about
But Im confident enough in the RSX-S to recommend it over the Si.
BTW not a good idea to ask this question in the Si thread, as most of your replies will be "get the Si!" and such. My $0.02.
Good luck with either one you end up purchasing

it depends on what u are looking for out of the car. there are more parts available for hte rsx, so mods will be cheaper. but if u are going for something that u dont see on every street corner, then go with the SI. also, is insurance a factor? i was gonna be paying $265 a month for full coverage on the rsx-s, whereas i pay $155 a month for full coverage on the SI. Si is also cheaper by a couple of grand. so u dont get boss stereo, but the si is still nice. i test drove each one before finally deciding to go wiht the SI. handles much better in my opinion, and i love the interior. black microfiber/suede seats and door panels with red stitching
in the end it comes down to a personal choice... u will pay more for maintanence and insurance on the type s just because it says Acura. there is a big whole of 3-13 hp difference between the type s and the si, is that little bit of hp really worth spending almost 5grand? my 2 pennies right there

i would get the type s , it looks nicer imo and is more luxurious than the si and also it doesnt come with all the defects and bullshit that the new si's come with .
Test drive both and then decide. For 99% of situations, you will not notice too much of a performance difference, so go for what you like in the car.
Don't buy a fit to go fast. It has a chassis and engine engineered for efficiency. The motor has an almost square bore/stroke and will grenade if pushed too hard (with heavy mods of course).

exactly. test drive each one of them, find the resale value on each of 3 years or so and see which will fetch more. a car is an investment. whichever u prefer is the one u will be driving everyday. i chose the si, hence i drive an SI everyday

lol, I love when people talk out of their asses about ****... what defects are you reffering to? If anything there's a DBW update for effected VINS, but thats far from a serious issue... other than that I cant think of any "defect"...
As for the S vs Si, I think its really just going to come down to personal prefference, each is better in its own aspect but in the end they are pretty equally balanced cars

They are both very nice cars, with the luxury factor going to the RSX. After driving both, I liked the seats and general feel of the Si better, so that is what I went with. It may not matter to some, but there is no Acura dealership near me and they are under warranty for 4 years during which the dealership has to take care of warranty issues. Honda shops are way more common, so there was a convenience factor for me. I don't think you will be sorry if you buy either of these cars.
Aside from possibly the differences in tires (summer tires on the Si vs. all-seasons on the RSX), why do people claim the Si handles so much better? Sure, the LSD helps a bit when accelerating out of a corner, but most reviews of the Si still claim it's an understeering pig.
Has anyone actually compared the Si and RSX in some objective way? It would make an interesting car magazine article, but I haven't seen it anywhere.

when u mod each one in the future with a turbo kit and put em next to each other, which one do u think will win? im gonna say the si. lsd ownz. this is the last production year for the rsx. i assume the price will start dropping pretty soon. i found an 02 rsx-s in memphis for $14k with about 48xxx miles on it. thats not too much of a resale value. i drove that car and it seemed to be in good shape all around.
how is ur insurance? have u called in on both of them?
my warranty through honda is 5 years or 100k miles. acura wouldnt give me that kind of warranty

Please send me a link to these reviews you're refering to. I've read and watched every review I've been able to find and have never once seen any mention of understeer or any negative comments on the Si's handling. Once again I will point out the Edmund's review where the Si scored .1 mph less in the slalom than a 2006 Viper. Understeering pig? I'm still waiting on mine but I highly doubt it.

I would say the SI it handles better, it has a limited slip diff, it can come with navi, Nicer seats that hold better you in corner's, plus alot more i can name but thats just my opinon.

I know the Si does; dont honestly know about the rsx-s, but looking (and riding in the car) my friends S smokes and leaves tire marks from both front wheels... I never have found out if they have a limited slip, or an electronic "version" (like Prelude's ATTS)... anyone know?
btw I know this is the civics section of the forum, jw if anyone knew
