lost oilpress, input wanted
is the B18c5/6 have any known week points in the oem oil system?
my engine has about 72000 miles on it when the disaster hit me. i have searched and found a post about replacing the oilpump at 60k miles? is that really true?
things that could be the reason to the problem:
the car was parked for the most time the last half year
oil cooler installed the last week
moroso oem style oilpan installed last week
the worst thing is that i cant check what exactly is damaged before next weekend, and i dont like to just think the worst thought about whats wrong
but it sounded like a rod bearing is fubar, so that would result in replacing all the bearings on the crank? anything else needed?
and the oem bearing is perfered?

are you sure you had enough oil in it?
if you spun a bearing, chances are the journal got scuffed. hopefully not too bad. Id replace all the other bearings anyway if you are in there already. heres a good thread to help you decide if OEM is best for you https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1197621

yes it was infact over max on the dip stick, this would result in larger oil press, right? exsessive wear on the pump?
the oil cooler setup worked fine for a day.
the oil lamp came on while cruizing in fifth gear on the high way, killed the engine put the clutch in and rolled 4-500 meters.
is the journal the surface on the crank or where the bearing is placed in the block? my local honda shop told me that the oem crank can`t be re surfaced. is this correct?
when tearing down the engine i guess replacing the piston or rings at least would be saving me problems down the road

yes but you would have to add more oil than usual when running an oil cooler. So you could still have had less oil than you needed. I dont think having too much oil actually makes you have more oil pressure. But it can "submerge" the crank, sapping away horsepower. As far as I know oil pressure is created by the pump, and if you lose oil pressure, you either had some kind of failure, blockage, or not enough oil. Were you going around a corner/turn/bend in the road when this happened?
the journal is the shiney part on the crank where the bearing rotates. you are not SUPPOSED to refinish a journal for a performance application, but as far as I know it can be done. It depends how bad it is. Honda probably would not recommend it due to liability and reliability reasons. I have an ITR crank that spun a bearing, and I took it to a machine shop and they said it can be repaired. But its been for sale for awhile as nobody wants to buy it. I dont think I would used a repaired crank for a performance application either.
I dont see any point in replacing pistons or rings unless you are having problems related to those parts, or intend to upgrade later on anyway.

yes i topped the cooler, filter and hoses before start up, and then added oil. but ended up with adding to much
well the oil consuption was not way high, but if i am tearing down the engine i think some forged pistons are going in. how much can the oem sleeves be bored out?
this could result in a b20 engine
