What are these for, and why don't you want to use your regular wheels? Since you're not a diehard drag racer (and I assume you're not going to the racetrack, since you didn't mention it), you shouldn't need (or want) slicks; just get a set of Falken Azenis RT-615 in 205/50-15 and slap them on your stock 15x6 wheels. They're the stickiest street tire you can get. Downsides are that they will only last 10-12K miles (that's still a lot more than drag radials or R compound track tires or conventional slicks) and they're not all that great in the rain (although not as bad as their predecessor, the Azenis RT-215) but for grip around town, through the twisties, and on the highway, they're the best thing you can do for your GS-R.

13's will fit. my brother ran 13x7.5 lenso vpd drag wheels with 22x8x13 m&h slicks on his 96 gsr.

If you go with a 15" wheel, Id probably get the M&H 23X7.5X15s, if you do decide to go with the Lenso's then Id roll with the 22X8X13s.

because he wants to have his current wheels/tires for a street setup and then something for an all out setup (like 17s for the street style) and then some 13-15" for performance driving. Thus, he has a setup for both vs trying to run a strip tire on the street and getting crappy mileage out of it and having a tire thats not really made for street driving and isnt going to perform like a true slick. Makes damn good sense to me.

how long do slicks usually last? i found a used set that he clamins hes only done about 20 1/8 miles races. and he just did a small burnout to clean em up. how long is the avaerge life span?

Depends on the compound of the slick, how long you do a burn out and whether you spin them all the way down the track like me I got over 40 passes out of a set and some street action too.

On uber soft tires it really depends on how they are driven/treated. Much like performance clutches, some people can wear them out in 30 passes and others make them last for years. The tires should have wear marks (a small hole in the tread) to show how much rubber it has left, thus get a picture of that and go from there.
