Default New Buyer and need help!

hello everybody. I am buying a 2001 accord LX 4cylinder, 2.3 liters, VTEC with about 74000 miles on it. I was wondering if somebody could offer some tips and advice as to what i should look for while inspecting the car. i am going to give it to my mechanic to get a 120 point check and see wahtsup...if you have additional advice please do let me know.

also would somebody be willing to run carfax for me if they have a monthy subscription? VIN is JHMCG564X1C021744. thanks

your car checks out on carfax.
originally from texas. never been registered in the snow belt.
2 owners previously. and has been auctioned.

ask for maintenance records.
look for straight body.
doors should all close nicely.
check for dirty engine bay.
look for damage on radiator
supports and in trunk for previous accidents.
check engine oil color.
smell tranny oil if you can get a dip of it.
look in radi fluid reservoir.
check cv boots for tears.
check brakes at slow and fast speeds for warpage/consistency.
listen for strange noises when driving/idling.
make sure AC works.
check all electrics.
check for signs of leaks from engine bay.
check CEL for evap.
check glove box for damage from removal.
check all interior screws to see if they have been pulled and ask why if yes.
at 74k you are good for another year or so of driving before you need to replace TB and water pump.

if all of these are good, then you are in good shape.

good luck.

yea tranny is prolly the number one thing to look for.... mine transmission was a pos and couldnt go into reverse smoothly, so the dealership put a brand new one in and a 200k mile guarantee, which makes me happy
