Default Advice on achieving 13.99 at the drag strip...

A couple weekends ago, I went drag racing at Rockingham Dragway. I ran consistent 14.2 and 14.3. My best time is:

R/T: 1.120
60' : 2.199
1/8 : 9.169
1/4 : 14.224 @ 95.52

I was running with stripped interior, low gas, no muffler, open air box with Comptech Air filter, JDM 4-1 header and two 15" Kosei K1's up front mounted with Nitto 555R. I had no tire pressure gauge so couldn't tell the psi of the 555R, but I did lower the psi though. So there you have it. Any advice on how to get into the high 13's??? Any bolt-on mods that will get me there??? Thanks...

you don't have enough mph to get there.. only way to do it for sure is with slicks providing you get a low 1.9 60 foot.

first off, did you fall asleep at the light?? and secondly with Nitto 555R's your 60' times should be 2.0-2.1 and I had a 2.19 60' on kumho 712's witha 97.48mph trap speed and only mustered a 14.4

You can hit 13.9 with 15" slicks and I/H/E but you won't do it all the time. Ask Dropspeed, because his doing it with stocks cams and other bolt-ons consistantly on radials.

14.00@100.1 on street tires
2.1 60ft
180hp at the wheels
2540lbs. vehicle weight

Go tune your car. You'll hit it. Either that, or go run on a cold night.

Run open header.
Remove the PS belt.
Launch better (I pulled 2.15 on Potenza SO-3's)
Shift faster.

Blah who cares about r/t when you're just looking for a time. I'd rather concentrate on launching right rather than just 'sleepin' at the light. In a heads-up race that concern flies out the window though.

actually, I don't granny shift and still only run 14.4's @ 97.48mph, I don't know what it is, I shift at around 8500 RPM's and barely let of the gas when I do shift

Not to brag but I did hit a 13.990 @ 97.82 MPH on March 2, 2002 at E-town in my 95 GSR, full body, full interior, full tank of gas, street tires @ 22 psi, stock GSR bottom end and stock GSR tranny gearing. My car weighed 2550?? w/o me in it...plus I weigh like 130 lbs. or so.

R/T .692
60' 2.218
330' 5.979
1/8 9.078
MPH 78.69
1000' 11.741
1/4 13.990
MPH 97.82

Its all in the driving and the tuning.

If you do cams or other major engine work, obviously many ppl on this board could hit that time
