It depends on what you mean by reprogram. Do you mean reflash? Then no.

Also don't worry about Greddy or AEM for your ECU needs, Hondata all the way and there ain't one person in here that will say other wise.

k-pro is where its at man. hands ******* down. a programmable ecu that bumps up your redline to 8600 rpms is a good enough reason

you have choices. try searching.

Hondata has two options, a reflash of your stock ECU (www.hondata.com) and K-Pro, a ECU replacement that gives you full control over your cars ECU via your laptop or a tuner of your choice. K-Pro is the most popular because it was built just for our K-series engines.

The CON to K-Pro, if you want to go back to stock, you have to locate and swap out for another stock ECU of your car type (like a 03 Type-S) and go to a dealer to have it re-flashed to work with your key and immobilizer.

GReddy and AEM give you whats called a piggy-back ECU. It ... well piggy backs on your stock ECU (so you keep your stock ecu unlike with KPro which replaces it) and tells the ECU what to do in terms of air and fuel.

Hope that helps.

Good info, but if you re-flash you can keep your stock ECU but there will be down time while it is at Hondata. Then if you change your mind just have Acura re-flash it.

If you just want the red-line to go up look at an A'pexi VAFC, it can control V-TEC, red line and Air/Fuel ratio. it sounds like this would be the best buy for you if you aren't looking to do ANYTHING ELSE!! If you do have plans for eventual turbo, sc or other serious mods shell out for the k-pro.

also like to add, if you decide on Hondata Reflash (lets say reflash #4), you can upgrade later to K-Pro at a discounted price. And yet, downtime for a couple days while you next day air it to Hondata and back. Unless you live in So Cal which you can drive to a dealer in Torrance.

Mine was done in 20min
