Hondata Reflash
I noticed alot of you guys got the reflash as one of the first mods...does that make much of a difference? does it only change a/f ratios? and did you have to drive to a hondata dealer or did you buy the program online?
You have to send it off to Hondata and they do the reflash and ship it back. It is a basic tune on the car changing redline and VTEC crossover along with fuel mapping and ignition timing if I recall. If you bring it back to Honda for any warranty work they may reflash it back to stock.
some people were talking about the older si's having a rev hang bc of the dbw....but i think someone said they fixed it in the newer ones so hopefully that will include mine
Actually, it is recommended to do the reflash after headers or intake and exhaust are put on. You see more of a gain by doing this. By itself, the gains are minimal. Go to the hondata website, and you will see the dynos.

This is correct, except with no mods, you will possibly lose power.
I would say to at least put on an intake before flashing. The K-Series is weird and the order you add things effects the power for some reason. At least on the earlier engines and ECUs.

Search through the other threads about this. There is alot of information and a number of people who have done this. They also reference talking to Hondata and say what Hondata recommends you do.
Not a good first mod to do.

The service department will do the update during the normal PDI (pre delivery inspection) so you won't have anything to worry about.
