Default b18 Head, D16z6 block, cable tranny?

Has anyone ever seen this setup? I cae across a car for sale, its a 88-91 crx, the cars basically a shell with nothing but a drivers seat, steering wheel and the motor. the doors welded shut so im assuming they were using the car for some kind of autocross. what im wondering is what kind of power they could get out of this setup and also just wondering why they did this.
its a b18 ls head with a d16z6 block, not sure exactly what tranny it is but its a cable tranny. looks all tock from the outside but who knows whats going on with the internals. anyone ever seen this or know what kind of power it can produce?

u cant put an LS head on a d16z6 block dumbass. You can tell if its cable or hydraulic if theres a sl;ave cylinder. whoevers sellin u this car is a moron, and so are you. get a real mechanic to look at it

What you saw was probably a dohc ZC. At a glance it could be confused with an LS valvecover, and it could have a d16 block bolted to it. Its basically a dohc d-series. And if its a 88-91, then it should be a cable-actuated clutch.

Yea i just thought it was an LS because of the valve cover. How much power do you think there getting out of this?

I think they were rated 130 bhp at the flywheel...my wild guess would be maybe 100whp? If its really a D16z bottom end, then putting a ZC head on it would lower the compression, I believe. But who knows...if its some sort of a dedicated track car then its probably been rebuilt with some aim at making it faster. There's a mulititude of OEM pistons you can use when building d-series to give you a wide range of compression. Stock, they feel decently peppy in that chassis.

Can't put a DOHC head on a SOHC block. And the pistons you use to raise compression in D blocks come from this motor, generally anyway.

...which is behind my reasoning for thinking that the compression would lower if you placed a ZC head on a d16z6 block - and the chambers are smaller on z6 head. But it doesn't really matter if, as you pointed out, you can't bolt a dohc ZC head onto a sohc block.

Perhaps the CRX had a dohc d16a1 underhood?

pictures.

def. not a b18 head on a D block, possibly as someone said a ZC head, but I don't know how they could have gotten the ZC head on anything other than a ZC block.
