My One Month Old Kat. Gone
This was a bad weekend. I bought my Kat brand new with .5 mile on it. one June 27th. It's was my first bike ever and I loved riding it. I put a good bit of miles on it in the first month of ownership.
Last night I went to a friends house to have a good time. When I got there a good lifelong friend of mine asked if he could take my bike for a ride. I've seen him ride before and he even drove mine once before. It was getting dark out and I was a little uneasy at the thought but I trust him with my life let alone of piece of proerty.
I gave him my jacket and helmet and said don't be long and don't raise hell. He hasn't rode it in a while but he said alright and when he left the driveway onto the road he wound out first and second and was shifting into third as he was cresting a hill. We heard him shift into fourth and then we couldn't hear it anymore.
We (other friends and I) thought he was just out of our sound range when My phone rings. It was Him. Upset, but talking to me. I knew it wasn't good. We piled into a friends van and hauled *** about a half mile down the road. He was shooken up, but my helmet saved his life and my jacked saved his arms. His knee was ripped open down to the patella and you could see the top plate. We rushed him to the ER where he got 21 stiches in his knee and thats it. Save for a little bit of road rash on his hands. After dumping the bike at 90+ I'm still glad my friend is still alive.
He was more shooken up about the bike than himself. but materials can be replaced. I haven't even made a payment on it yet. And I'm not sure if insurance will cover it or not. My mind is going so many different ways at once it's not even funny.
The bike Im sure is totalled. All of the fairings are cracked. Tail light and one turn signal is broken, winshield, mirrors, the handlebars when straight the wheel is pointing to the left at about a 40o angle, The rear tire is set to the right of the fender about 4 inches. It's pretty bad.
So moral is be smart and trust your instinct. Don't let your dumbass friends take your stuff.

Wow that realllllllllly sucks man, so sorry to hear.
It doesn't LOOK totalled...but sounds like there could be some frame damage.
Glad your friend is alright though...
<--- says if you/your friends ain't got insurance then they ain' riding MY bike.

Classic, how many times have I said, DON'T LET YOUR FRIENDS RIDE YOUR BIKES... would you have felt better if your friends was injured, or worse yet dead. Yours is not a unique story.

I dont let anybody ride my bike anymore, I dont care how much experience they have. A few years back my friend dumped my bike after taking it for a spin, so only I ride my bike now... Some people get mad about it, but I dont care.

yeah expletive insurance man, you shouldn't have to have your rates go up because of him. make him pay for the bike... I don't care how good of a friend it is if they think they can handle the bike they should also be responsible for any damages... but this is exactly why no one but me has ever ridden my bike.
Well, the Dealer called me today with the estimate. The adjuster is going there tomorrow to coencide with the estimate to make sure everything is in order.
Total Damage: 7474.27
I will hopefully get a scan tomorrow or Friday. Block is cracked and so is the Tranny Housing. Subframe is bent along with everything in the front from the tank foward.
