Changed my oil today and decided to get the RSX oil filter to see if it increases the oil pressure.
now, i normally use an Integra Oil filter but that left my oil pressure low after driving the car hard.
~10-11pis @ 220F (idle)
Factory minimum oil pressure is 10psi @ idle and 50psi @ 3000rpm.
when i'm at 3000rpm with the temp at 220F my oil pressure reading is at 45psi.
So i decided i might as well give the RSX filter a shot. from the looks of the filter itself, its about the same height and circumference as the integra filter.
The initial drive after the swap
idle - 22psi - 120F
2Krpm - 40psi - 120F
3Krpm - 60psi - 120F
4Krpm - 80psi - 120F
my car's normal operating oil temperature is around 180-200F
from what i noticed, when the oil temp is below operating temp there was an increase in pressure from Idle and up, starting at a gain of 2psi and up to 20psi at 4000rpm. This gain of psi when decrease as the temperature of the oil increases.
engine notes:
2.0L Block
Honda ITR oil Pump
ACL Bearings
RSX Filter
Golden Eagle block sandwich adapter
Defi D Oil Sensors
Motul 8100 5w40

RSX (left) VS. Integra (Right) Side view

RSX (left) VS. Integra (Right) top view

A magnet, serves the same purpose as the Spoon magnetic drain bolt

that sucker is not falling off

If your concerned about oil pressure loss, take a metal hose clamp and tighten it around the center of the oil filter. This will keep it from bulging and expanding as the material heats up from the oil.

I considered doing that after seeing the guys at Spoon doing it. but i might as well try the RSX filter cause it seems like not to many people have done it and documented it

Those filters look exactly the same to me?
The Integra one does not look like the "old" Honda filter but the same as the newer spec (02+?) that Honda switched to. I couldnt tell from the pics?

yeah, you can have too much, but my oil pressure was on the low side and sometimes dipping below factory minimum so this would give me some need psi

lol instead of doing all that junk. get a >>>SuperPlug you can't even get it in the oil pan hole without using two hands its magnetic force is that strong. and the thread pattern clearance is exact and very tight and not loose like the spoon plugs. (when you screw it in, it wiggles)
i did my own test and it can pick up 6 lbs spoon plug wont even pick up 1/4 inch rachet which weighs about 1/2 pound

I can give that a try. is it the same size as the S2000 one?

s2000 filter is the same size as the old school filter.
insight is about 2/3 the size of the new honda filters (like the one your using).
btw both the insight and s2000 filters are made by toyo roki same company that makes the hamp filters.

the dealers around here use the same filters on all their cars
when i went into the honda dealer and asked for a filter for a S2000 they looked at me funny and said the filters are all the same and he handed me the same filter they used on civics, accords etc....
same thing at the Acura dealer......they all use one type of filter.......which is why i don't use OEM honda (of canada) filters....

I can not speak for the Canadian Market, however for the US Market, all 15400-PLC-004 supercedes to a 15400-PLM-A01 or a 15400-PLM-A02.
Typically supercessions are made to cut down cost. Although there may be slight differences between the two, from experience I believe the difference is negligible if any at all. Regardless of the fact you do not have the option if you live in the United States.
15400-PCX-004 S2K/RL Oil Filters FTW!

Correct! I run the s2000 filter on my civic - they fit just like the civic/itr/rsx filter does - just larger.

LOL! That's exactly what the ***-clowns at my local Las Vegas dealership told me. Even though they had a brand new S2000 on the showroom floor with the new "PCX" oil-filter on it. It just shows you how dealerships really operate...
I use Mobil-1 filters with synthetic oils now for extended change intervals...

THis is one thing that I considered for awhile...My conclusions were this:
Even though the filter does maintain pressure slightly better than a small OEM Honda (Fram) filter, one should consider that the by-pass valve opens at much lower pressures than compared to that of an S2K filter, which is what I use.
My engine sees those kinds of RPMs so its a piece of mind to me that the oil is well filtered, rather than, blow-by.
Small OEM filters = FRAM
S2K filters = Toyo Roki
Toyo ROki = better than fram... Hope I got that name right.
