Default What are my best bet for shocks and a camber kit on a budget?

I recently took a vacation to san diego, and had to buy cheap tires at $200 in the middle of nowhere along highway 99. I know that its from when i lowered my car and did not decide to get new shocks too. I plan to just do this all at once I want to get shocks and a camber kit. Are camber kits a big task to install. and what are some good shocks to use I hear tokicos blow easily but I wanted some other opinions. I want to spend between $150-$225 on shocks and about the same on a camber kit. I am running Neuspeed 2in yellow lowering springs. Thanks

tociko blues are shitty, but they will last you a good amount of time if you pair them up with some H&R springs cuz thats how my car came when i bought in march and it stills handles real good, Ill change them later on for some koni yellows, or if you dont wanna do things twice get the koni GC combo

Get some kyb. They are decent. You don't really need a camber kit, just get a good alignment (zero toe all around). The cheapest camber kit you could buy is a bunch of washers for the rear. Do a quick search on "rear camber trick" Good luck and drive safe.

I was thinking KYB too, my camber is barely notice able but big o tires where i got my car aligned said it was off 2 degrees all around. what made me buy tires was wires were showing through my sides, could be due to them being used I bought them from a friend but his camber is just like mine barely noticeable. could it just be they were cheap tires, they were really bounchy when i launched too. can they do anything for my camber with out the kit on the front? thanks

I've heard they're pretty good. I used to have blues but they were total crap. I ended up saving money and buying some koni yellows, THE best investment I've made byfar.

Ive got KYB GR2 struts with Eibach Sportline springs and i love the drop and ride quality. It all depends on your preference really and how low you want to go with your setup. the kyb gr2 is an oem replacement of your current struts. if you want to go low go for Koni yellow, KYB AGX, Tokicko Illuminas, or any adjustable struts.

I put Koni adj shocks and Skunk2 koilovers on my 97 LS. Pretty cheap set up. no more the 800. I find that the full stiffness of the Koni's isn't as stiff as i hoped. The Tanabe adj shocks on my R are def. stiffer. The Koni's will probably be the best choice for your daily driven tho. I do suggest Koilovers instead of lowering srpings for many reasons, but you kan't always buy the "cheap" stuff. You will end up spending more in the long run.

when you lower the car, the front end toes out, which causes a lot of tire wear. you can run negative camber with minimal tire wear as long as you get your car alighned after lowering it.

Koni reds are pretty good budget shocks, as well as KYB. The reds are adjustable, but you need to adjust them before you put them on the car. KYB GR2s are non adjustable and stock replacment (maybe a bit firmer than stock), and the KYB AGXs are adjustable via a **** on the top of the shock shaft. depending on the model, the KYBs can be pretty stiff (EG/DC AGXs seem to be stiffer than EK/EM models).

I'd get the KYB AGX. A little more than you probably want to spend but worth it in the long run. Keep an eye out for a used set.

I got H&R and AGX setup. Very nice setup. Turn in response is electric, and AGX provide a realistic adjustment range. I use setting 1 for driving 260 miles to Las Vegas, and crank it up to 4 for 80mph fast sweepers on canyon back roads.
