vtec not kicking in

vtec not kicking in
i just swapped a gsr motor into my civic lx and the vtec doesnt seem to kick in.. and it redlines at 7 and cuts off at 7.5... isnt my redline suppose to be 8 now since i did the swapp???.... what could be the problem????
