Best Ipod FM transmitter?
Alright guys, I need your opinions. Please base them on personal experience only!
I am about to buy an FM transmitter for my ipod and was wondering what brands you guys would prefer? I used the Monster Cable and really enjoyed it. Just looking for more input before my purchase

Yeah, they pretty much all suck...
If you have a factory radio & want to run your iPod through it with the best possible sound quality, scrap the FM Mod idea all together and get an aux in adapter from http://www.logjamelectronics.com.

I do not have a factory radio or an aux slot. I also tried the Monster Cable rca jacks before and it did not work with my JVC head unit. I used my gf's Monster Cable fm transmitter and I actually didn't have any complaints...and I'm a pretty picky person

Thanks guys, I was trying to avoid the new head unit, but might end up going with that.
I'm stealing my gf's fm transmitter again today and driving to different areas and paying more attention to the quality.

Is you HU not a CD changer controller, or do you have a changer plugged into it already, if yes, it is a controller, and if no, a change is not plugged in, There is probably an adapter that will use the changer port as an aux. input port.
I do agree with the rest that there are no "good" FM mods, even at the very best, it can only be as good as the radio station playing the same tune, the ones that actually plug into the ant. port of the HU would be the best of the FM modulated units, but still very poor SQ compared to an aux input adapter.
What is the model of your JVC HU ?

Well there is an optional CD/DVD player for it, [KS-PG110JD] so there must be an input for it so there is a good bet someone is making an adapter for it.
Maybe this one... http://www.installer.com/item/...pxp04

I am not sure it would work for sure, you will have to check with the manufacturer to see if it will work with that HU.
What I can tell you for sure is, if it works, or you find one like it, [iPod docking port plug instead of 1/8" headphone jack] you will get very good SQ.
Keep in mind, the cable I linked was pretty much the first thing I Googled up, [out of 1,600,000 hits using "jvc car audio Ipod adapters"] took about 15 sec.

Thanks man! Here is my concern...I used the monster cable that plugs into the RCA jacks then your ipod...bought it for about $30 or so. Anyways, I can't use my head unit to control my ipod, which means I can't get the ipod near loud enough to hear clearly (this is with my ipod turned up the full way) Any ideas on if the one you linked me to would be any different?
Also, the monster cable I used plugged into the headphone spot on the ipod, not the bottom slot. I don't know if that would change anything...

you're not making any sense to me. If you're volume on your stereo is turned up and your volume on your ipod is turned up.. it should be PLENTY loud.
BTW you don't want your ipod turned up all the way.. keep it like at 3/4.. 1/3 that will keep the sound clean

Modified by Tuesdaynightfever at 4:11 PM 8/8/2006</TD></TR></TABLE> Yes it changes everything, the headphone jack is "amplified" the docking port is a pre-amp signal, with some docking port adapters it will not only power and charge the batt. in the iPod but all controls for iPod are on HU, and much better SQ.

Only a HU designed to control an iPod can control the ipod. Or an aftermarket adapter with another interface...

</TD></TR></TABLE> Yes that would be correct, but you would still gain the advantage of the preamp signal and things like vol, bass, treble, balance, fade and any other "tone" control the HU has, and with that SQ.
