Default 2nd Gen engine options?

I have a buddy who aquired an 85 Accord in a not-so-great deal. Besides leaking coolant and oil, having obscene amounts of rust in the cooling system, not idling and even having a carb to begin with, the timing belt just snapped. I'm assuming the E series is an interference engine like most other Honda's, so I don't expect to find anything good upon taking off the head. [/story]

What kind of worthwhile swaps are there for the Second Gen chassis? We're not looking for anything fast, just something that runs. Neither of us know a whole lot about carburetors, so swapping to FI would be nice. I doubt the stock fuel pump would be up to it, but are the fuel lines?

Any info you can give would be a great help, 2nd gen info seems to be hard to find. Any service manual PDFs floating around?

You can swap a 3rd gen a20 in there. You dont have to run carb, but you will save yourself a headache by not converting that car to EFI. If you use the Second gen head on the 3rd gen block it will yield higher compression and give you a little more HP. Check this place out http://www.3geez.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=63

Second gen info is almost non existant. An A20 really would be too much work for what you'll get out of it. Personally i"d think you'll be stuck doing something with alot of custom work.

What's the displacement on the current engine? I might know of something.

I'd look for a newer car tho...

Can't say I disagree, but it's not my car. I'm not sure what the engine displacement is, I'll find out.

We're not looking for performance, we're looking to get the car running.
