road racing tires for 14' rims
I just picked up some cf-48's there 14 inch rims i was looking at picking up some road racing tires for them what would be the best setup. what are you guys using?
thanks
thanks
I road race on 15's Azenis they are very good for track use I would look into those. You can get them from http://www.vulcantire.com they should be out in Sept.
If you want some R compound look at some Kuhmo V710 they are very good.
Those are my recommendations.

back when i ran 14's, i ran a 195/55ZR14 Dunlop SP9000 for my street and "race" tyre. worked very well, but not what i'd recommend for a dedicated race car.
if the car (or wheels) is going to be race only, i'd second the V710. very nice tyre. if it's going to spend any time at all on the street, i'd suggest the Yokohama A032R.

yeah falkens will probably be my best bet
I was kinda bumbed when i got the cf-48's the tires on now are all season and they handle like **** of course but i was thinking that had alot to do with the height of the tire my old rims were 15" with 195-50-15's now i have 195-"60"-14's will the falken's with 195-60-14's handel alot beter? Im sure they will but would it be in my best interest to seek out a 15" rim & tire setup?
thanks

http://www.tirerack.com now the last time i told someone about this, I found out they live overseas, this place is in Arizona or something, great selection, fast shipping, and awesome pricing! I buy all my tires there for over two years, I have 7 cars, so I am a frequent customer.
would a 195-50-15 tire out perform a 195-60-14 falken tire? The reason im asking is that im thinking of getting rid of my 14 inch cf-48's because i need somthing that can use a better tire selection. Will that falken you showed me a link to be just as good?
thanks
thanks
"outperform" is a very subjective thing.
it depends on the tyre size, compound, construction, alignment angle settings, suspension, wheel size and offset, etc.
plus, what do you want? ultimate grip or progressive breakaway?
i miss my 14" tyres. massive amounts of dry traction and a very smooth, progressive breakaway. downsides were price ($120 per), longevity (12k miles max), and wet/snow traction (didn't have any).
now i've got 15" tyres. not as much dry grip, though still very progressive. they've already lasted over 20k miles, and don't scare the crap out of me in the rain. so, are they better performing tyres?

dude dont get rid of your 14's. i recommend some toyo ra-1's. those are freaking awesome on the street. i sport those on my hatch. now for road racing, i recommend some ra-1's shaved down to 4/32nd. let me just say...
. you wont be dissapointed
