new to this.. considering new speakers and maby amp
alright so ive just recently started looking into getting new replacement speakers. im thinking to just replace the rear speakers (6x9). im curious how a nice 3 or 4 way would sound w/o an amp.(just for clerification an amp clears up the sound and makes everything more definate?) and if i were to get an amp would i be better off going to a pro to install? or can a man w/ basic electrical knowlage do it? im open to any and all suggestions

If you have basic knowledge you should be able to do it. Its not that hard. If you run 6x9 I would amp them. More power to your speaker = less distrotion and better sound clarity not to mention volume. I would go 1-ways in the back and a good set of componets up front

well it seems componet speakers are our of my price range... know im only 17. so start on front speakers and later move to the rear? would anyone care to explain why? im hesitating to take off my door panel. and would like these speakers to come with me to a future car. which is why id like to start in the rear.
You, as a human, was designed to hear things from in front of you.
If there is nothing wrong with the rear OEM speakers, keep them as "rear fill", you can get a set of front speakers that will mount into stock "Speaker Housings", standard 6.5" speaker, [5" mounting hole] they do not have to be components, a 2way coax or point source 6.5" will work just fine, look for one that has a 2" or less mounting depth and no mods of any kind will be needed.

"Components" is a generic name given to speakers, [2way, 3way, even 4 way] that come as "separets", [maybe a better name for them] woofer and tweeter, woofer, mid-range and tweeter and almost always with an off board x-over.
A coax/triax or multi element speaker has the tweeter "coaxialy" mounted on a "bridge" and normally has nothing more then a cap as a x-over, [high-pass for tweeter] a point source is kind of in between, normally post mounted tweeter set back in the center of woofer cone and a better x-over then the coax, sometimes off-board sometimes on-board... http://www.polkaudio.com/educa...id=35 and one more... http://www.dt4u.com/dtsystems/...point probably explain it better then me.
