***trans rebuilt not going according to plan***need help***
I'm trying to rebuild my DA cable trans. I was told that all gen B series trans internals were interchangeable and that i could put the main and counter shafts from a hydro LS trans i bought but the bearing and the shafts are not made the same way.
Need help to figure out how to do this swap. Again was told that ITR trans shafts are commonly swapped into CRX SIR cable trans.
What am I not seeing???

what year cable tranny do you have? a 90-91 or a 92-93. 92-93 are interchangable

that is very wrong... all b series trannys are not interchangeable.. infact even within the same models different years have different parts....
some parts are interchangeable... but you have to measure or know before hand cause trannys arent as easy as the engine where everything is just sorta copy and pasted... there are actual different parts.... which kinda sucks... but oh well..

so what your saying is that i need a 92-93 cable trans to be able to swap the complete main and counter shaft assembly?

i wanted to keep it straight forward by not disasembling the shafts

yes the 92-93 trannies are the closest thing youll get to interchanging. from what i under stang is the 90-91 trannies are closer to d-series internals

so with a 92-93 tranny case i will be able to put 98 ls main and counter shafts to utilize the long gear ratio?

??the 92-93 transmissions have the same gearing as the 94-01 ls's. the 90-91 trannies have taller 1-3rd and a shorter 4th-5th, but they have a 4.4FD
