B16a2...
Wats up yall. I need a second opinion on something. If I can get a full Sir-II swap into my 95 cx hatch for $2250 that includes all this, what do you guys think?

+ I know its all legit and as you see I can get LSD for 300 more. I want a B18c1, but thats 3100. Anyway in my mind I think thats a pretty good deal considering you get shift linkedge,axles, and ECU P30 + Harness and all sensors. thats everything, but tires ;op I have the money + more and have been considering this for awile. All my friends say do it, but I wan't just a few more opinions. Thanks for reading if you did. Later.
P.S. ohh yea but for 900 more(plus shipping) I can get B18c1. Thats what I wan't just a little steep.

if I look for a motor on here then I would have to prob. buy it in peices. Thats actully a pretty good deal for axles and everything. I think on here all of that would be about the same if I got lucky, and take a lot longer cuz you have to find it all.

thanks everyone for the comments. I don't know how I won't be happy with a b16 when I have a 2055 pound car + later im gonna ITR IM with TB,CTR cams, cam gears,hondata and good tuning, shave some off head and i,h,e. But thats why I asked for some opinions. Yall might know something I don't. Yea I know tourqe. But that can be fixed.
My friend went to school (3 actully) and says B16 hands down. I dunno he made alot of since what he said. also if I get 16 then thats 1k for moding the B16 then if I got the 18. Hard choice. Anyone wanna say why pay 950 more for B18 besides the tourqe witch I know all that. Thanks again tho. Later.

trust me you can't make up for torque on a 1.6 unless you bore/stroke it or boost.
That extra 950 won't be enough to have the torque/displacement of a 1.8.

Trust me, you will eventually want to step it up to a 1.8. So you might as well just fork up the cash now and save the agony

true, true, but... all im sayin is in a 2055 pound car coming from a 90hp 1.5 liter sohc, i think i will be happy for awhile without having all this torque. And trust me I do know, cuz I used to have an eclipse with nothing but honed block (for free) + thin head gasket with an intake. So yes I know about the torque factor. Anyway I did ask so thanks again for the replies. later.
P.S. then later ill get a great builder that I know to put me togather a B20/vtec, and ill already have one of the best heads for it to start with ;o) think I made up my mind. Then after that ill fully build it and turbo. peace.

You're a fool if you buy a b16. No torque = having to rev the **** out of it to get anywhere. I had a b16 cx...you may think it's fast but b16's are nothing unless you boost them. You keep saying you'll do this and that later on...well why not do it now? You're already cutting corners by going with the b16, a slight indication of your inexperience...
Hell, i'd rather have a b18a/b with a b16 trans. I'd punish you with that setup and it would cost about 500 less, which could easily get me an OEM ITR LSD...

Like i said before, i'd rather have a ls motor with a b16 trans and bolt-ons, and be quicker out of the box, and still have more money for something else...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just because you would rather have a different motor doesn't make it the "correct way," and also doesn't give you the right to bash or call people names for having a personal preference. Shows how much of a mature person you are

I never called anybody a fool, i said you're and i meant it as anybody (including myself since i bought a b16)...I'm trying to help him not make the same mistake i did. But hey like my friend always tells me, nobody will ever listen to you because they need to find out the hard way...like myself...

A lot of new people on here think vtec is some sort of miracle, when there are better options than the torqueless wonder...

Like you guys mentioned, it's opinion and preference. I'd personally save up more money and get the B18C1, or get a b16 head and an LS block.. I have a 2000 SI that I bought brand new. Love the car, and love the b16, but no damn torque.. I have a 94 hatch with an LS/VTEC and there is no comparison..

You cannot build a reliable lsvtec for 2250 though. You can however get a low milaged ls longblock and b16 trans for that price, and be faster than a normal b16 swap. I agree he should save for the b18c1, hell even save for the C5 but if the OP isn't as patient (i was the same when i bought my b16) i would go with the ls over the b16 anyday of the week. It just leaves the options of an lsvtec build later on.

I disagree with that statement. I believe that if he were to buy a jdm B16 that ran good, he would beat your "miracle ls motor." Maybe not in an auto-x, but in a drag race...yes. And you can't judge a B16 off of driving a 99-00' USDM Civic Si. Those cars do the motor NO justice.

Yeah...No. There is no way an ls with a b16 trans is going to run a slower time in the quarter mile than a stock b16 swap. Just because the b16 has more hp doesnt mean ****, the b18 has more torque. I believe the b16 would do better in auto-x because it makes most of it's power up top, and in auto cross you are rarely in the lower RPM range...

You have it backwards there guy, in an auto-x you want torque to pull you out of corners. In a drag race, the top end power will always win. You would beat him to the 60 ft. mark, but the top end will catch and pass you. What would be a better cam for drag racing, a BC3+ or a S2S1?
