Drain it at 10k send it in to get an oil analysis done and then you can determine how long you can go on the drain intervals.

Right now I'm using Amsoil 5w30 'MTF synchromesh' shifts like butter and shifts better than the Redline MTL i had in before.

You can get Amsoil 5w30 MTF synchromesh from your local amsoil distributor. I buy mine from a local store who carries amsoil.

or try contacting the guy here: http://cablespeed.com/~pabloma....html

we answered your question. Why are you bumping?

There is no magical answer. It's not like this fluid changes form over 6 months.

higher rpms = more work for brass synchros to match gear speed. Brass doesn't stick to in-case transmission magnet.

if you drove from miami to achorage, you'd stay in 5th gear for 95% of the time. This 3000 miles or whatever wouldn't put as much "strain" as 200 miles of tracking + romping around neighborhoods.

on my rebuilt trans I used 10w-30 for the first 500 miles. then drained it out and put another 10w-30 for another 150 miles. It's been 250-300 miles since that flush, I'll be putting 10w-30 in again for the next flush. And keep doing this until i stop seeing brass flakes from virgin synchros.

GM sycomesh is a different vicosity then what honda recomends in the tranny, will using a higher vicosity result in less transmissions grind? sorry if this is tread jacking i was just always curious

excellent point. I've never thought about it. It's probably just a slightly thicker oil. Do you know what it's rated it by any chance?

I always thought it seemed thinner, and I heard somewhere it was synthetic... any detailed info on this? 'I've been rocking it for 6k miles and I've been grinding some lately might put in some fresh synchromesh next oil change...

most honda transmissions require a fluid with about 11cSt @ 100C, thats about what the Honda MTL/MTF is rated at when new, but the honda fluid is known to shear quite quickly judging by some of the oil analysis i've seen.

The Amsoil MTF is rated at about 9.4 cSt @ 100C.

Specialty Formulations has MTL-P which is rated at 11.3cSt @100C, so this might be a better choice. In a colder climate, get a slightly thinner fluid.

its recomended to do so every 30k miles or every 2 years, just like an oil change is recomended at 3k, but if you go over that mark you should be alright
