Rebuilding my LS motor!
im going to rebuild my LS motor anyone know if it would be cheaper to find another motor or just rebuild that one I want it to be faster than the stock LS so any Ideas?
If you want to have a quicker LS engine then you have a few options to consider.
-Tranny - have you considered getting an sir/gsr/itr transmssion? that right off the bat will help you put power down quicker then the long gearing in the ls tranny.
-Lighten rotating assembly - a lighter flywheel will help acceleration, also throw in a lighten crank pulley(such as the ctr n1) or a factory ls-crank pulley with the PS/AC shaved off to keep the harmonic balancing on the peice.
-Internals - you can do the bottom end with usdm/jdm b16 pistons which will bump up the compression, but to make use of the CR upgrade, you should consider getting some lumpy cams to make power.
Getting valve springs/retainers and a set of crower non-vtec b18b cams will do you some good.
-I/H/E - Intake/Header/Exhaust combination can give you some more power thats being restricet by the 1.75" factory exhaust. I'm running a b18b with a fresh stock rebuild, with a 2.5" collector/high flow cat and 2.5" exhaust piping and it's just good for now till I put in some more money into the engine. 2.5" or 2.25" will do fine for an exhaust setup
good luck with the build
