Default Timing Belt

I have an 89 Integra XSI DOHC VTEC, B16A, DA8. I only recently bought this car and it didn't cost me much but its condition represents this. It's done 152,000 kilometers or about 94,000 miles and there is no evidence that the timing belt has been changed I haven't taken the cover off but there is no sticker or otherwise stating that its been changed.

Do you think it's even possible that the timing belt would have gone this long without giving way? It's an auto if that changes anything.

Honda says to change it at 90,000mi, so only 4000 extra is posiable. I think my car was 6000 over when I did it. However I would do it soon. When I did mine I noticed some dry rot, but there was no shreading or anything

There's a number of factors that determine how long the timing belt will last, including things like driving habits, whether things like oil/water/humidity/extreme temperatures, have gotten to it, etc. So yes it's possible for it to have gone that long and never been changed. I've seen some cars my friends had that went about 130k+ miles on the original timing belt.

I would say another thing that makes a big difference is not just mileage, but age of the car. With an 89 model you're probably running on borrowed time. However an 03 model car with 150k miles that's driven all the time in fair weather conditions might actually be "ok". Still should be changed, but the belt might be in better condition.
