Have any of you used or heard of Evans coolant? Darton recommends it with their sleeves.

never herd of it . but it must be good , darton doesnt expletive around.

 

I have never needed to go that route but it does seem like a good product.It's a little pricey and doesn't mix with water or other coolants.They had a SCCA GT1 camaro running a reverse cooled engine and their coolant years before chevy built the second gen LT1.

 

The part about not mixing with water is hard to believe. Oh well, as stated, Darton wouldnt screw around. I think I will give it a try.

 

Ok, I am going to give an opinion because I dont have any fact to back it up but personally I wouldnt use it. My buddy just blew his turbo on his WRX 3 days after using this coolant. Apparently its a lot more harsh then normal coolant/water mix.

Also, the way you do it is you have to completly flush out your existing system, and use only the NPG. Depending on how much your car takes you need at least 1 bottle to flush it then the rest to fill it up. I think the stuff costs damn near 30 bucks a bottle. Im not sure but I can check.

FInally there is like only one place on the east coast that sells it and its some corvette shop in northern jersey. Its hard to get, I have had a bad experience with it and its expensive. For me the money is better spent in a bigger/better radiator.

what do you mean more harsh than coolant , this is a better alternative too coolant . theres no way this could blow a motor unless it siezed the water pump in which case he should have noticed the rise in temp. not saying its imposseble but i dont think it was the reason...

 

I believe its made of propylene glycol which is a non-toxic preservative used in foods. You don't add water to it, and has a much higher boiling point (above 300 f?) The only issue I have ever heard with it is that its much thicker like syrup and sometimes water pumps have trouble pumping it at high rpm--don't know how true that is though......
