Possible new purchase (89 Prelude Si) Stalling, hard starts
Hi all, I'm considering my first ever Honda purchase. I found an 89 Prelude Si (4WS) for sale that caught my eye.
Of course like any 17 year old car, it's not without problems..
Well it's been awhile since I drove a stick, so of course I stalled it on the test drive. The first time I stalled it, it wouldn't start back up. Cranked fine, pulled the coil wire and I had good spark.
After letting it sit awhile it started back up, finished the test drive, and it happened again. Got back to the owners house and started poking around under the hood. Head a buzzing sound, almost sounded like a vaccuum leak. Found the PCV valve was rattling and vibrating like crazy. I poped it out and made sure it was clean, put it back in and the sound was gone and the idle was a lot smoother and higher..
Think this was my stalling/starting problem? I'm just making sure nobody thinks it may be something major before I buy the car.
It's got 200k on the body, and around 90k on the junkyard motor. The price is right at 900 bucks, and the owner dropped the price to 750 for me because he doesn't know why it was not starting right.
Any advice / comments appreceated. Go easy, I'm a big time Chevy guy, and this is my first non-GM purchase..

$750 for an thirdgen 4WS is a steal. hit it up, it'll take some work (i'm working on my non-4WS 89 SI that i got for $500) but in the long run, it'll give you a lot of fun experiences.
go for it.
go for it.
