Am I going to have to replace my seats?
OK, so I admit it, everytime I get in my ITR I think Im Mike Schumakuer and go tearing off to the grocery, or blockbuster, or work, etc, etc, we know it, its a given. My problem is that because I drive like that I keep my seat really close to the steering wheel, not grandma close, but racecar close. Everytime I go to get in or out of the car I rub up against the seat right where the stitching is. I feel like I am putting exessive wear and tear on the seats. I thought about everytime I get out of the car, putting the seat back, but it takes me like a day to get it back to were I like it, so I would rather not do that. So what do I do? Put plastic slip covers over the seats, but then it looks like grandmas sofa?!? Mabey this would be a good excuse to order a seat of JDM Recaro seats. I could put the stock ones in storage and put the abuse on the JDM's. Does anyone else have this problem and if so lets hear your solution.
Thanks
Thanks
You're gonna abuse bling-bling JDM Recaro's over "cheap" USDM seats? That don't make sense at all.
Why don't you just buy some bucket seats for $400-$600 and feel more like a race car driver?
Unless you have to have "JDM", a board member was selling his MOMO S. Racer reclinable seat + rail for _only_ $500. That's a damn good deal and you can abuse it all you want.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this, but my family is in the car buisness and from my experience, a modded car loses value. If you can keep the car original that is the way to do it for resale value. I could get the JDM recaros and punish them and when I go the sell the car, I would have pristine stock seats to put back in the car. There is just something about a stock car that people respond to. This is just my opinion, so dont flame me please. JDM Recaros are as close to stock as I can get, which makes my choice apparent. I know this will be disagreeable to most on this board, but its how I feel. Header, intakes and exausts are ok as long as you dont sell the stock parts because they are eaisly put back on, but turbo systems, cars with NOS, and even supercharges reduce the price of a car IMO. I would NEVER purchase a car that someone had previously had a turbo, Supercharger, NOS, cams, etc on the car. You never know how the engine held up to their mods. again this is just my opinion, I do not mean to offend anyone and if I have I am sorry.
JSITR - I perfectly understand your point. I would definitely not buy a car that was heavily modded. Stock cars with OE parts yield the highest price in the used car market, of course. However, what I was trying to say was that replace your stock driver seat with more inexpensive bucket or reclinable seat. Unless, you're set on getting Recaro's and have the means to do it.
To me there is just something about having the car "stock" and it performing as well as it does. Any a$$hole can purchase a civic and mod the hell out of it and it will beat my ITR in every catagory that you can think of. But the thought of my car doing what it does day in and day out and being totally derived of Honda manufacured parts just apeals to me. I include JDM parts in "Stock" for the most part because they are standard equipment in Japan. This is the only way I can justify purchasing JDM Recaros. But now that I think about it, I am sure that I could find a set of USDM ITR seats that someone is selling in order to purchase another set of seats. Mabey this is the way to go.
You could always paint a white mark on the rail where you like your seat the best, then move the chair back every time you get out. Then when you get back in, you simply look at the slider/rail and put it back to the white mark.
