Need Help! Won't go into gear...
I have a 91 Honda Civic Dx with an OBD0 B16 swap. I got a complete changeover from H-motors. When I put it into gear, it didn't engage into any of the gears. I don't think it's the clutch cable, because it's from a 91 integra, and I installed it correctly. Even when I go outside the car and pull up on the release arm, and someone else who is in the car tries to put it into gear, it won't. It goes into any gear when the car is off, but it won't when it's on, even if I push hard. I thought it was a clutch problem, so I removed the transmission and took off the clutch and flywheel, but everything looks fine. What should I be looking for? Could it be inside the transmission? Should I just go ahead and install my new clutch and flywheel? Help would be much appreciated. Check out the pics.
This is how the clutch looks. Looks fine to me.

This is how the flywheel looks. Also fine.

This is how the pressure plate looks. Looks ok too.

As you can see the release arm is working properly too.
When it's down...

When it's up...

And this is the clutch and flywheel I bought.

I helped him put in the engine and I saw him modify the clutch cable and everything. It should all be good and the only thing that I can think would be wrong is the clutch.... but it looks fine so idk. We're just trying to think of other possible problems to avoid having to take out the engine more than twice.
Any help or suggestions would be great, thanks.

I have the shift linkage that came with the swap (which was from a JDM integra) that I modified. I cut 2 3/8" out of the middle of both the shafts. It bolted up really well, and felt nice when shifting into gears when the car was off. Could the shift linkage make me not be able to shift when the car is on? Thanks for the help so far.
hey, same thing happened to a frend of mine. his clutch wasnt engaging so he brought his tranny, flywheel and pressure plate to this clutch shop and they told him something off the pressure plate was broke(the pressure plate lookied just fine to us.) so he just ended up getting a new pressure plate and everything worked out.
He's installing his new clutch and flywheel right now, we're hoping it's just the pressure plate not working like caliscrilla said......... if not, we have some problems.

If you put it in 1st while the car is off and push the clutch would the car start? Another test could be put it in 1st, push the clutch, then have someone else push the car, and see if the crank pulley still turns. Too late now that you are installing new clutch, but I think those methods could have told if the clutch was not engaging.
We did test that, we put it in 1st when the car was off and tried to start and the car would jump forward like the clutch was engaged..... because it most likely was. Didn't do the pushing thing though.
The problem was the clutch didn't disengage .... it was engaged even when the pedal was all the way down.
Thanks for the suggestions, any more would be sweet.

How much effort should there be when pulling up on the release arm? Because it feels like its not even pushing in the pressure plate. Shouldnt it be stiffer? This is happening on the old clutch and the new one i just installed btw. Could hmotors have sent me the wrong tranny for the engine? Thanks for replys so far.
same problem in this topic although no definate answer there is a lot of speculation of what it might be. I would bet once you install the new clutch kit the problem will resolve itself.
